Today is gorgeous, with an expected high of around 75. And we'd better enjoy it because it drops again tomorrow and for the next several days.

Nice!  It's been raining here most of the day. ::)

Today's epic is unrolling slowly. I am watching both parts of Henry IV on my computer. I found an excellent production online but it was transferred from VHS to youtube, complete with some tics of age and a certain fuzziness of image.

Speaking of VHS...my mom gave me a bunch of old VHS tapes of my niece when she was young.  She (my mom) wants me to transfer them to DVD, which I can do...except that when I put the first tape into my VCR, nothing happened. :o It wouldn't play, it wouldn't eject, it wouldn't do anything!  Fortunately, it also looks like it didn't eat the tape, so hopefully I can take it somewhere and get it removed.

I then tried my other VCR, but I used a blank VHS tape that I had (just in case), and the exact same thing happened!  Nothing!  It also wouldn't play, eject, or do anything!  At least, I'm not worried about that blank tape, nor about either VCR. ::)

But yesterday, I borrowed the VCR that my parents have in their living room.  I haven't hooked it up yet, though.  I need to find another blank (or at least dispensable) VHS tape to test. :-\

Watched an interesting movie this afternoon: THE INCIDENT (1967).

Martin Sheen's first film.

Had you never watched before?

Well, the Barn Theatre production of Henry V is over. I usually don't mind theaters that stage shows where actors have to play multiple characters, but this one somehow crossed a line. There were only eight actors for about 25+ parts. Several actors with beards were so visually distinct that I couldn't tell if they were a follower of Falstaff, a British soldier, a French soldier, a member of the French court. The costumes, especially of the soldiers, were too close to each other. But the power of the script took over, and the last 45 minutes or so had a very sharp focus and contained that Shakespearean power.

I am sure I would be confused as it has happened with actors playing fewer roles.

It amazes me to see an actor in this production named Monte Priddy. He has been doing Shakespeare in the Park since 1961. He was the Falstaff in the most wonderful production of Merry Wives of Windsor I have seen. He is playing Shadow here. But I knew that voice, that delivery the moment he opened his mouth.

That's pretty cool, John.

Thanks, Jane!  Once I confirm that my parents' VCR works, it'll be no problem.  I just hook it up to my DVD burner, set that to record, hit play on the VCR and let it go. :)

Back from picking up packages.  Before I left, I noticed a package at the front door.  That was from John Schak, who's cleaning up Harvey Schmidt's house and cataloging and stuff.  He sent me Harvey's closer shot of the marquee of the Lido Theater that adorns the cover of Benjamin Kritzer - apparently Harvey had it hanging in his house and it's signed, so that was very sweet of John.

That's great!  I always wondered what happened to the original artwork of the original release to Colette Collage.

Proofed the second to last track and made the fixes necessary, but unfortunately he didn't do them yet, so that's still two to go.  I really will insist he finish tomorrow so that's off both our plates.

Then the only thing left for him to do will be to assemble and mix the vocals for the two group numbers.

Re: BK's post about the bank branch being closed.

I don't know if your bank has this. But here they are letting you deposit your cheques from home. I don't know exactly what you have to do. But apparently it is quite easy.

There's probably a per-transaction fee, too. ::) They'll take your money anyway they can.

Fred Willard has died. He wrote his own chapter of today’s TOD. His cluelessness made him a riot in Best in Show and For Your Consideration among other movies.

Fred Willard was a great guy and great friend to LA theater.  He came to many of my opening nights with wife Mary, and I'm pretty sure the last time I saw him was at the Group Rep for The Man Who Came to Dinner.  I know he was there for A Carol Christmas and Dial 'M' for Murder.

Nice!

I ran the sound for a Theater Artists Olympia production of The Hound of the Baskervilles that was put together by the Reduced Shakespeare Company.  Three, count 'em, THREE people played ALL the parts!  It was (intentionally) hysterical! :D

And then there was another local theater that did the one-man Hamlet.
