On another note, I am listening at the moment to one of my favorite recordings of English folk songs arranged by Sir Charles Mackerras and Ernest Tomlinson.  It just purs a huge smile on my face.  I like the two soloists and cgoral work very much, but the orchestrations are such a delight!

I have a question for the class.

What are these emoji avatar things that suddenly this weekend everyone I know is posting on Facebook? What’s up with that? Why is this suddenly a thing? Will I be offending anyone here when I say this is possibly the stupidest, most juvenile (and I don’t mean that in a good way) thing I’ve seen on that site yet? Seriously, WTF?

And another:

Am I hearing right about this awful planned substitution for the Tony awards broadcast? Is it, please God, someone’s brilliant idea for some fake news? Must I believe my lying eyes?

Jeanne is a delight.  I was so glad not long ago to see her on a commercial which kept airing and airing - but then I heard it was one of those deals where there's a one-time payment.   IIRC, when Jeanne played Anna in "King and I" in Georgia, Larry played Edward in that production. - which must have saved money for the theater in lodging, and that was so great that he was able to go with her!

Those were the days when we didn't mind that Stockard Channing was 25 and played 18.  It was a musical, dammit.

Sunday morning greetings!  It's been a frustrating morning here.  Seems there's a Zoom update that's wreaking havoc with all the churches that have been using it for services.  Fr. Richard is all dressed up with nowhere to go...

DR ELMORE my father used a surgery pillow after his heart surgery and it was most helpful.....of course we have a closet to keep it in....  I used it for a bit myself.

I have no idea what she's even ordered!

DR Elmore, maybe you'll get something the cats will like...

Elmore, as Ginny says, maybe the cats will like the pillows. I bought a shaped foam pillow, and I had to keep moving Rex off of it. I finally just let him have it.

In any event, use the pillows after the surgery, then toss them if the cats don't want them.

To answer a question asked yesterday:

I saw THE INCIDENT when it was first released in the late 1960s.

Yesterday, was the first time I'd seen it since.

My wife didn't care for it, but I still found it interesting.

Martin Sheen would later play "John Dillinger" in a film I wrote the original screenplay for, DILLINGER AND CAPONE

And, I knew Brock Peters.

Last night, we watched DEVOTION, about the Bronte sisters.

I knew both Ida Lupino and Paul Henreid, which is why we watched it.

It was well acted, but slow moving a kind of dull.

Brock Peters was in that misbegotten film version of Lost in the Stars that I would still like to see again.

I for one would not, and I like the show a lot.  My only memory ofd the film is Melba Moore hanging onto a washline and shaking while she sang "Trouble Man!"

I don't even know what you are talking about.  I don't see any new avatars.  I only know of the new hug emoji, which I like, which has nothing to do with the avatars that I know of.

The avatars aren't actually being used as such. People are simply posting what their new "temporary" made up one would look like, usually without any comment. Some say "temporary", others don't. One person does it, others react to it, sometimes they post their own new made up one in response.

And I don't care how it's done. Last thing I need to know. I'm just wondering at the silly nature of it all.

I haven't noticed anything like that on Facebook, but I'm not very observant.....

I think I head something about GREASE and The Tony Awards.....I kind of blocked it out of my mind.

Since I haven't gone anywhere in my car for more than a week, I thought I would take a page from MR BK's book and drive around the neighborhood.

The battery did drag a BIT, but the engine started right up.  I drove past each of my brothers' and sisters' houses - well the five of them that live in town - and past the schools and into downtown to see how the tornado damage recovery is going.....

All is well.....
