On another note, I am listening at the moment to one of my favorite recordings of English folk songs arranged by Sir Charles Mackerras and Ernest Tomlinson. It just purs a huge smile on my face. I like the two soloists and cgoral work very much, but the orchestrations are such a delight!

What are these emoji avatar things that suddenly this weekend everyone I know is posting on Facebook? What’s up with that? Why is this suddenly a thing? Will I be offending anyone here when I say this is possibly the stupidest, most juvenile (and I don’t mean that in a good way) thing I’ve seen on that site yet? Seriously, WTF?

Jeanne is a delight. I was so glad not long ago to see her on a commercial which kept airing and airing - but then I heard it was one of those deals where there's a one-time payment. IIRC, when Jeanne played Anna in "King and I" in Georgia, Larry played Edward in that production. - which must have saved money for the theater in lodging, and that was so great that he was able to go with her!

To answer a question asked yesterday:

I saw THE INCIDENT when it was first released in the late 1960s.

Yesterday, was the first time I'd seen it since.

My wife didn't care for it, but I still found it interesting.

Martin Sheen would later play "John Dillinger" in a film I wrote the original screenplay for, DILLINGER AND CAPONE.

And, I knew Brock Peters.

Last night, we watched DEVOTION, about the Bronte sisters.

I knew both Ida Lupino and Paul Henreid, which is why we watched it.

It was well acted, but slow moving a kind of dull.

I for one would not, and I like the show a lot. My only memory ofd the film is Melba Moore hanging onto a washline and shaking while she sang "Trouble Man!"

The avatars aren't actually being used as such. People are simply posting what their new "temporary" made up one would look like, usually without any comment. Some say "temporary", others don't. One person does it, others react to it, sometimes they post their own new made up one in response.

And I don't care how it's done. Last thing I need to know. I'm just wondering at the silly nature of it all.

Since I haven't gone anywhere in my car for more than a week, I thought I would take a page from MR BK's book and drive around the neighborhood.

The battery did drag a BIT, but the engine started right up. I drove past each of my brothers' and sisters' houses - well the five of them that live in town - and past the schools and into downtown to see how the tornado damage recovery is going.....

All is well.....

I have the entire AMERICAN FILM THEATRE collection on DVD, including LOST IN THE STARS. Haven't watched any of them for ages.
