Thank you, DR Ginny, for providing the surgery update.

Vibes to Larry for a speedy and complete recovery.

Vibes to the kitties, too.

I had a few errands to run today, but checked the Santa Monica news before heading out. I read there was a 1 pm curfew downtown and 4 pm for the rest of the city. 1 pm? What does that accomplish? I find 4 pm rather early, too.

I went to the bank. Closed. A sign on the door, but no reason given. The mailbox I often use -- our mail carriers simply do not pick up outgoing mail -- was not operable, nor was the one right next to it. The restaurant my friend manages was closed, but at least the sign said it was due to the curfew. My favorite Mexican restaurant was open and I was able to indulge in some comfort food.

These places are far from downtown and there was absolutely no damage that I know of. It did strike me as rather strange, like I was in some kind of horror movie, where everything's changed.

As for the reopenings, many are just not happening. Neither the car wash nor the jeweler (my watch strap broke) have reopened, despite having been given permission by the governor a couple weeks ago. Restaurants are trickier as they must rethink how they do business. I've seen a few customers dining outside, but no one inside.

I think it's time to watch an escapist TV show.

Stay safe.

Good night.

Because every day is better with a little Karen Morrow in it.

Isn't it also funny how this little thing called a pandemic, which we've all endured and are still enduring to try to "flatten the curve" goes right out the window with protests.  Few masks, people huddled together - the looters tend to wear masks but for obvious reasons.  People are photographing license plates of these creeps but I don't think the police will do a damn thing.

I find it upsetting when they don't wear a mask. They risk killing someone while protesting a murder.  I know I am over simplifying the reasons behind the protests.

You can go to flightradar24.com and see the aircraft that are in the air. I can see that a police helicopter has been circling downtown Phoenix for some time now. It might be interesting to monitor your town.

Interesting and I would check it out if I wasn't on my tablet.

I agree and then it would be easier to arrest them.  Then maybe we could find out who they really are.

So far, most of those people who were arrested over the weekend in Seattle and have been identified, are from Seattle or the outskirts.

T.O.D.

I was never a big Joel McCrea fan, but Randolph Scott is probably my favorite Western star.

Sorry Duke.

In fact, when I was a publicist, Budd Boetticher, who directed seven of Scott's best films, was a client. A framed lobby card from THE TALL T, signed by both Scott and Boetticher, is hanging on my wall.

I never met Scott, though I did do a brief phone interview with him once when I was researching my Basil Rathbone book.

Every time I hear/read the name of Randolph Scott, I think of THIS SONG. :))

I have some backlog stuff that REALLY needs to be taken care of, and since very few other people are around, it makes sense for me to start working on it before we start back up with more people coming in to work.

After work, I went to my sister's to help (actually help and not just do it myself for her) put up a different kind of shade over her daughter's chicken coop.

The tarp that was over it had a few holes, so it would leak when it rained.

HOWEVER, after we put it up, my sister realized that the new shade thing really wasn't big enough to cover the coop. ::)

Fortunately, it was all pretty easy...it just attached with bungee cords.

My sister got some of her Gorilla Tape® (like Duck Tape®, but supposedly much stronger) and patched the holes in the first tarp, then we hung it back up again. ::)

But this time, we turned it around so that the patched holes didn't hit the coop in the same places.
