They have cancelled the baseball season for my minor league team. Bummer.  There were never very many people there so it would have been easy to social distance, but whatever.   I'll miss it. I had season tickets.

Lots of people are out and about now.  I went to the new hardware store tonight and there were about 20 or so people.  There was one customer and one employee in masks, no one else is wearing them.  The other stores I've been to are the same.  Our numbers aren't zero, but much better than they were.  At the resort area where I used to live, they opened big on Memorial Day and acted like they were immune.   They have a lot of cases for the size of the area and have now closed the amusement park and museums.

I was also at a rummage sale for a local charity today.  I think I saw one mask.    I've decided to wear one tomorrow and I can easily sit on the other side of the room.   I'm healthy so not too concerned about that.

32 showed up for the movie. Then we had a fire alarm go off and to evacuate. Strange evening.

One last thing, we will now have all sorts of technology so if mom falls, three people will receive texts and she'll be able to push the help button, so hopefully it's covered.  She's having PT now and is getting stronger so that should help too.  She had pretty much quit exercising before this happened and was unsteady even with her walker.

Yes MR BK it's something when you have to move things so that you can find other things.....

Oh hell, that’s the story of my life.

Wait isn’t that what everyone does?

The stores here all have signs requiring masks I have not yet seen anyone arguing about it.  Of course living so close to NYC and knowing the death toll there is probably influential compliance

I’m looking into alert systems now for my mom.  The one that seems most useful is called Medical Alert.  It’s about $500 a year if you pay upfront and my mom is balking at the price.   I’ve pointed out it’s less a weeks salary for a part time aide...

We’ll see

I'll get you the name of the one they are getting for mom.  My sister in law spent days researching all the companies and the product in depth and ended up picking one that had the fewest complaints and the best contract that you can get out of if you don't need it at some point. I guess some of them you can't get out of the contract even if you don't need it any more.

Our retail doesn't have a mandatory mask requirement.  I don't think they ever did. Restaurants have rules, but I haven't gone to one for anything but take out so I don't know what they are. They can operate at 100% capacity now.  We had high numbers, but it was mostly the packing plants.  Lots of people here are pretty much going back to normal.  The courts aren't open for in person hearings so I'm still working at home.

We watched THE GENE KRUPA STORY (1959) tonight.  I'd never seen it before.

Sal Mineo was very good in it, though the movie, which was produced (Philip Waxman) and scored (Leith Stevens) by two former publicity clients was just so-so.

Sal Mineo was one of my first clients.  Not for publicity.  He hired me to write a script for him.

So sad the way he died.

Leith Stevens, too.

We had 28 ushers working, so there was an usher practically per guest.

That's one I'd like to see, just for the music. I wonder if the script bore any resemblance to the true story.
