Just saw a story on gas prices rising. I paid $1.59 at Costco today, and that was 20 cents a gallon cheaper than anybody else around.

We watched BRAKE (2012) starring Stephen Dorff on cable today.

For the the most part, it is an excellent thriller with a twist ending.

Unfortunately, it also has a 2nd twist ending that is totally unbelievable.

The writer and producer should have quit when they were ahead

Watched Johnny Guitar, starting again from the beginning, and loved it.

I had only ever seen it on inferior home video copies and, as far as I can recall, never in a theater. As always, the quality of the transfer makes or breaks it. Great flick.

The musical of Johnny Guitar? Not so great.

I had to deal with AT&T tonight. Blood pressure up. Ugh. Hate that company.

Back to Munch doing Ravel at the moment - still in the mono years.  I've been enjoying the Schumann and the Schubert as a listening experience but I don't think I'll be returning to those pieces, as well as they are done by Mr. Munch.

We need more book reviews.  But I understand this is a long tome (emot, spelled backwards).

Back from a nice walk. The mosquitoes stayed away from me.

One nice thing about our cooler weather is not having much exposed skin for them to bite.

I love the George Szell/Leon Fleischer stereo Brahms second piano concerto, but this Munch mono version with Arthur Rubinstein is spectacularly beautiful.

Also, today is the 22nd anniversary of the day that I bought my car!  I need to get it serviced (fairly soon), but it still runs pretty well! :D

22 years.  Congratulations.

Thanks, Jane!

Yup!  And it only has one little rust spot on the front of the hood. :)

WOW!!

Mine just passed its 18th birthday!

And given that it's still on that tank of gas purchased on March 19th, it's been enjoying a nice break.

Happy (belated) 18th birthday to your car, ChasSmith!

I just received a nice surprise.  A friend sent me a photo from the early 1990s with me, Roberta Peters, and some NYC Gay Men's Chorus drag queen - Miss Coco, maybe? - after a rehearsal for a holiday concert featuring Miss Peters, who was not just a great artist, but a really beautiful lady.

That's a great picture, Larry!

Hell, I'm still driving on my snow tires!

Since I would ordinarily have had them removed in March right when everything stopped, these additional miles on them count for practically nothing. I'll probably go in to have them changed when it's time to fill the tank. That seems appropriate. :)

Can't you get a ticket for driving on those after the season has ended?  I hope the rules have been relaxed.

I never heard of such a thing. Besides, who could tell they're snow tires without getting down and looking at the tread?

Are you thinking about studded tires? Those aren't even allowed here, to my knowledge.

Oh...I was thinking studded tires, also.  Those are allowed here in Washington state, but only from November 1 to March 31.  I've never had any.

Because of everything that's going on, the studded tire removal deadline here in Washington was extended to May 15, 2020.  It's now past that date, so they're illegal again.

What a great photo DR ELMORE.

I have seen a copy of the first interview that has been completed.  I need to wear my collar OUTSIDE my jacket and pull it down off my hips.....I am as big as a house and my face is sunburned and I squint like the sun is in my eyes.

BUT - the interview is good and lots of stuff was said that I think will be interesting....I didn't realize that the show was titled "Conversations With Jack" but I can live with that.....

It should be up on Tuesday and I shall post a link in case anyone is morbidly curious.....

Sounds like fun!  Can't wait to see it. ;D

The new Company company performs a Zoom version of the title song. I like it, but I just don't get the appeal of Katrina Lenk.

https://www.playbill.com/article/watch-katrina-lenk-patti-lupone-and-the-cast-of-company-perform-the-title-song-virtually

I actually liked her more in the little bit that she does here than when she sang in the New Year's Eve Sondheim concert. ::)
