I think I'm going to tuck in with my book for a while.
Neve is NOT trained or protective, and would probably cuddle up to any intruders.
When anyone in my neighborhood throws a loud late night party, I put on my tuxedo, grab a wine glass, and go on over!
it's a day to listen to Ella Fitzgerald sing Mountain Greenery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1LchP5xnZI
Our two new, improved gas and carbonmonoxide detectors arrived today. They are working correctly making sure we are safe.

I didn't know they said that but I agree.
We had a nice time at Marianne and Steve’s last night. On their patio overlooking a huge pond they set up 3 tables, one for each couple, with some distance in between. Each table had a sourdough baguette, butter, and some veggies and dip. We wore masks except when sitting at our individual tables.
Last night’s main course was smoked pork ribs that Sharon had been gifted by a client for whom she’d done some writing. They arrived frozen and she didn’t have freezer space, so we stored them for a year or so until she learned that Steve had the know-how to do the cooking. Marianne prepared corn on the cob and salad and I took a chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert.
Happy Birthday DR Vixmom! Hope you are having a wonderful day!
Now that the Fat Orange slug squatting in the White House is going for voter suppression and destroying the Post Office, I hope there will still be a postbox at the corner tomorrow. They've been removing them from Broadway.
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep, up at one and dealing with the guest who's being persnickety so I'm gonna cut said guest loose and go for another right now.
I rarely call in favors, but I am for the anniversary show - really simple favors and one person out of ten has gotten back to me.
Vixmom asked on FB about the derecho in Iowa. I hadn't thought about checking in about it. It hit central and eastern Iowa from around Des Moines east. It was 30 minutes of over 100 mph winds There is tons and tons of damage. Luckily, it didn't hit my part of the state. We had a storm and we had some strong winds, but not enough to do damage other than a tree limb here or there. It hit the 4 largest cities in Iowa as well as killing over 1/3 the corn crop in the state. It happened Monday and there are still a lot of people without power. It's bad. Feeling very grateful it didn't hit here

Laurie couldn't work at all without power. Friends of theirs, who lived out of town, were without power for days. The news just said there are still 83,000 without power.
