Been listening to Marvin Hamlisch’s Jean Seberg tonight. It’s easy to see why it failed, byt parts are fascinating. And the music is quite good.

Dinner was on the San Antonio Botanical Gardens restaurant patio and the temperature was a little chilly, in the low 60s and upper 50s, but we had a patio heater to make things nice. Daffodils were already in bloom. And the setting was tranquil. Birds singing all around.

It sounds beautiful..

Dessert for me was a raspberry panna cotta, which had great flavor but was too dense to be, texturally, a good panna cotta. Gail had a dessert cocktail that Jane would have hated. It was a Brandy Alexander with, you guessed it, hazelnut flavoring added.

As I was reading this, I thought that you were going to say that it had actual hazelnuts in the drink! :o

Have listened to two excellent operas this night - that's made things more pleasant.

Tacocat spelled backward is still Tacocat.

I do wonder about pet parents who feel compelled to do these sorts of things. I may be in the minority.

For the most part I agree with you.  Maybe they did it for Halloween.

A lot of the herbs grown there were featured in the food, which include plenty of mezze options that we split. We had bruschetta with a parsley salad and roasted tomatoes on it, fried rice balls, roasted garlic and toast, lebneh with a green olive-celery salsa on top, naan topped with herbs and spices, and a grilled cheese sandwich topped with tomato jam. Lots of carbs, lots of good flavors.

There used to be a restaurant near Santa Barbara called, I think, The Ranch or The Ranch House, that was set in an herb garden. There were only two seatings, which allowed for a leisurely meal and a stroll through the garden. The food was quite good, too. Jane, do you know of it?

I am not familiar with it.  There was a well known restaurant in Talent, Oregon that cooked from their garden behind the restaurant.   Sadly it burned down in the recent fire.

New Sammy's was well known for 31 years.  I was amazed, when traveling out of state, how many people asked about the restaurant.

The restaurant was also their home.  I just looked and found that a fundraiser raised a lot of money for them.

It was just nice to spend time with another human being for a little while.

Yes, I know what you mean. I find myself talking more with people I hardly know. I think many of us are conversation-starved. It'd be even worse without HHW.

I feel pretty lucky.  I've been able to get with my family, and be able to chat with co-workers at work, and friends.  I miss my theater, but I know it'll come back. :)

This last bit, immediately above, is done, at any rate.

I just added the thing about the Zoom Meeting/Party.

Fred, why are you using a new name?

I have had a brandy.  And I have had an Alexander.  But never both at the same time.

It was supposed to be a musical, but I guess it didn't go anywhere. :-\

The only song that I know from it is called "Dreamers."  Sarah Brightman recorded on her album, The Songs That Got Away.  I really like that song, and that recording.
