Of course that was creepy more than simply rude.

Back from another meal at the Smokehouse, this time with Marshall - the special today was the small prime rib - excellent - just that and veggies, no salad. Marshall ordered the small order of garlic cheese bread, and I looked it up online - 25 grams of carbs for one slice, which I figured I could do - but instead I just at the top portion of one slick, and left most of the bread. It was great and I certainly saved twelve grams of carbs and the rest of the meal had almost zero.

I've already watched Tonight's the Night, Revenge, and episode one of Outside the Box - it all looks great but the sound on the videos themselves seems to be way too low compared to the menu sound. I had to turn up my receiver a lot to get to the normal level that most stuff plays at on my receiver. So, I'll go back to the menu when I'm done, turn down the receiver until it's semi back to where it was (on this receiver there's no way to be exact) and then I'll tell them to match all sound to the menu sound.

How utterly frustrating, DR Jane.  It's like people have learned nothing from the pandemic. Or just don't care.

This is my attitude about other people at the moment:

;D

Yup.

Finishing up The Woman in Cabin 10. Mixed feelings about it, but better than not. I can see why people liked it.

Someone stole my credit card number and made some charges. At Panera. Three times. If you're going to steal my card number, why would you eat at that place? I won't eat there. That should have been the first clue to the credit card company that the charges weren't mine.

LOL about Panera.  I gather your card has been cancelled and you should receive a new one super fast.

I like the cookies and muffins at Panera, at least I did.  It has been several years since I have been there.

What is wrong with people!

I have the same frustrations with people. Some people really don't get it. From what I've read there are many, many people who want to still wear a mask and distance. I don't know if I'll ever feel comfortable again in crowded situations.

Last night I watched James Whale's interesting version of H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man. I spent much of the movie wondering how the "invisible" effects were achieved. Movies were more fun before CGI.

I concur. I was watching THE CIRCUS the other day and was very impressed at the effects used in 1928.

The Chaplin version of the Circus? I love that movie.

Yes, Chaplin is just wonderful. It's so easy to see why everyone loved him and his films.

Many years ago American Express used artificial inteligence to look for spending patterns and thus detect fraud. I don't know if any of the other companies try to do that or not. They may just lump all restaurant meals together. If they were smart they'd say, "Not exotic enough for John G."

What I like about Panera: almost anyone can eat there. Vegetarian or carnivore, adults or  kids.

What I don't like: they never, ever, get my order right. Doesn't matter which branch, it's never right.

And from last night's posts an excellent suggestion from Jrand, using a Magic Eraser on my sneakers. I will certainly try it. Thanks!

That's too bad, John.  My WORK credit card was compromised at the beginning of this year, and they also bought something at a Panera, but one in Florida.  At least, they only spent $2.09 there.  I assume that it was a test purchase.  HOWEVER, they also spent $2400 at a perfume store!! :o WTF??

I can't. They put unwelcome carbs in everything. The last time I went there, I ordered a steak salad without the dressing. They didn't tell me that they won't do that, so they handed me a salad slathered in the nasty stuff, something supposedly with raspberries in it, but it looked more like red goo, like Big Red syrup maybe. I explained I was not eating carbs and would not eat what they served me because it wasn't what I asked for. That didn't go over well at a bread and dessert place. But at least they did give me my money back.

I think the total of four purchases was less than $80, but nothing like $2,400 of stink.

Finished with my viewing. I got through all the videos and got through the commentary on Tonight's the Night, so all that's left is the Outside the Box commentaries, which I'll listen to tomorrow.

Back from Ralph's. Since tonight's dinner was actually not so bad calorie-wise, I decided to have an evening snack. I was going to do salami and cheese, but I always end up eating more than I'd planned. So, I had this net zero carb pizza thing, you know just the bottom - have no idea what it's made out of - so I put some Prego pizza sauce and some mozzarella on it along with a handful of pepperoni slices. I put it in the oven and took it out when it seemed ready, but I really should have given it an extra five minutes. Still, the first few bites were quite good, but in the end the dough needed to be a little crisper. I only made half of it (not too many calories) so whenever I get around to the other half I'll let it cook just a bit longer. But it surprised me that the sauce was pretty good and the cheese melted just right.
