While I getting my CT scan done, I discovered that I missed Prince Igor was the opera on metopera.org.

So, I've been listening off and on to it this afternoon. So far, I'm more than 2.5 hours into it. Have about 35 minutes left.

The music is just glorious. And what little I caught of the staging of the scene in the poppy field, it's the reason why people go to the Met. The spectacle practically matches the music.

It's been interesting to hear what Wright and Forrest appropriated for Kismet.

I'm glad, DR John G.

And all it took was a bunch of bucks.

I always loved the Forbidden Broadway variation (regarding Speed-the-Plow):

And would you not quite feel quite the fool of deception

Got most of the Indiegogo stuff all tagged - all sitting on the floor at the moment, but now I can take it all over to storage. Can't find two things at the moment, so the hunt is on.

The director demanded a Princess Telephone - so brought him down a Princess phone for Jan and a regular black dial phone for Brad.

He deigned to tell me he guessed the black one would work for Brad but that he wanted a PRINCESS phone for Jan.....I told him he had one....but he informed me that what I had given him was a SLIM LINE phone....

Which it was not...the SLIM LINE phone has the dial in the receiver....I finally realized what he wanted for Jan is a French style phone.....which he for some reason calls a Princess Phone....which it is not.....I really don't think Jan would use a French phone....but whatever...

It's going to be a long couple of months.....

I loved my baby blue princess phone, I was so sad when they made me give it back

Right, back when we rarely owned our phones.

I remember reading an article in the paper (the actual paper newspaper that my parents got) back in the 1980s, or maybe the early 1990s, about this woman who had rented a phone from her local phone company, and her adult son had figured that she had paid more than $29,000 for all the years that she had rented the phone!  Yikes! :o

After three hours, Prince Igor is over. But what a listen. I'd love to watch it some day.

I can't be sure which state we lived in, maybe Pennsylvania, we went to the AT&T store & purchased two replica antique wood phones.  Below are photos of similar styles.

One phone was a rotary dial that hung on the wall.  I remember having to teach visiting children how to use it.  Their expressions when they attempted to use the phone were priceless.

The other was a table phone, however, it had push buttons.

At one point the wood receiver broke on the standing phone, and since we had moved and didn't have a place for the wall phone, we switched out the receiver.

Every time the power went out we still had phone service, unlike with the new phones.

This afternoon Keith helped the neighbor decorate the mailboxes for a retirement surprise for our postman.  She went to the party store and picked up a few things and they look great.

Once we were done we went for a walk up the road to a neighborhood that had balloons lining the street with "THANK YOU" and our mailman's name on them.  It was heartwarming to see.
