I know the mint will be bitter soon. I need to figure out what to do with it.

I just found out that a friend of a friend was killed in his driveway while going to get the mail, by a neighbor with his car who didn't like the idea of having a gay couple in the neighborhood.

Sometimes I despair of this world.

I’m beyond words, how horrific.  I hope the neighbor has been arrested for murder and never sees the outside of a prison as long as he lives

The weather outside is scary. Even scarier is our lunatic governor last week said the electric grid was fixed after dozens of deaths in the winter freeze. Today we got notice that the heat was going to put too much pressure on the grid.

Well at least your governor is spending money on trying to fix the failing infrastructure instead of trying to continue building a border wall……oh , wait…

They are doing Henry V as well as a stage version of Shakespeare in Love.

I saw a stage version of Shakespeare in Love in Tacoma a couple of years ago.  It was quite well done.

But does it still fit?

What is the current gas price for regular unleaded in your area.  Regular here, as of today, is $3.51 a gallon.

Well, bk always says "check your facts," and he's right.

The information I had gotten about that news item earlier today was from someone who knew the victim, so I had assumed it was accurate information. But it turns out to have been incorrect. Rather than a hate crime, it was the act of someone who should have been in a psychiatric hospital, rather than behind the wheel of a car. Still a tragic story, but not what I first thought it was. So apologies to all.

Thanks for the update, Singdaw, but you're right...it's still a tragic story. :-\

And now, I'm leaving and going to pick up my friend Margo and we're going to the local Jersey Mike's!  Our friend David sent me two gift cards for a free regular sub each.  They expire tomorrow, and David didn't want to use them by then (he'd already used a couple of others), so he sent them to me for me and Margo to use. :)

Be back later.

Average price is about $2.69, but Costco is still at $2.38.

So, Minari is not holding my attention. I'm just not in the mood for something depressing.

And my latest Edith Wharton novella, The Touchstone, is only middling. Every time I pick it up, I keep wishing it were something else. And I'm only halfway through.

What is brinjal? Got a recipe for mint chicken that calls for it. Don't know what it is.

It's eggplant. Why didn't the recipe just say that?

Well, Minari is done. And while it had a hopeful ending, it took a lot of depression to get there.
