I'm nearing the end of episode five of One-Lane Bridge. There's been a murder confession. All I know from that is that the person confessing isn't the murderer.

Has anyone ever listened to Stravinsky's Threni? It is the composer at his most astringent. If you don't like Les Noces, you probably won't like Threni.

His Mass is cooly quite beautiful, however. Gorgeous woodwind writing.

Never listened to Threni but I do have his recording of that and probably everything else.

DR John G. - Go here:  https://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/e/sleep/communications/src-update

Click on "register"

After that, you input your device's serial number; it will tell you if that unit is recalled or not.

Thank you.

My serial number is not affected, which is great news. Still glad I have an appointment with a new doctor.

That's a relief.  I hope you like your new doctor.

I find this worth watching.

Scientists in the US are starting a booster shot trial, giving fully vaccinated people another jab.

Participants are given a booster shot of the Moderna vaccine - whether they previously got 2 shots of an mRNA vaccine (from Pfizer or Moderna) or 1 adenovirus (J&J) shot.

I don't think it is with the upcoming Moderna booster with the new strain, just the one that already is being used.

JRand, there was a section of Stephen Fry's Heroes you might enjoy. In telling the story of Bellerophon, he comes to the part where a ruler's wife is spurned by the young hero and accuses him of trying to rape her. As you may remember "from the Bible or the musical," he says, before reminding us of the story of Joseph.

I just saw a recipe on the web for "Salted Caramel Crunch Cookies."  That sounds a lot better than salad.

Great book review. Don't know if the book really is great, however:

"Nghi Vo’s adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” is completely ridiculous, and I love it with the passion of a thousand burning hearts.

"Not only does Vo capture the timbre of Fitzgerald’s lush prose, but she follows the trajectory of the novel’s contrails into another realm. This is a version of “The Great Gatsby” in which partygoers drink demon blood, sorcery twists the beams of reality, and Jay Gatsby is a bisexual vampire.

"Finally, the story makes sense."

I'm glad that my 8 weeks since my first shot was yesterday. Because later yesterday they announced that they are closing the walk in clinics for 1 week due to a late shipment. So I'm really happy that I was able to go yesterday.

It's all in the timing!

There has been a recall on cpap and bipap machines this week. I am the only one I know who uses Phillips, which was the company with the recall. But I can’t find out if my machine, now 7 years old, is included. My apnea doctor is no longer operating in the area. So I called Aetna and got a referral. I have a virtual appointment with a new doctor in August. Nice thing about the virtual appointment is I can do it from Louisville.

Good luck, John!

TOD:

I love Lee Remick in The Competition. It's not a great movie; kind of camp, really - but I love Lee in it.

I totally forgot about that one.  I really liked her in that, too. :)

Picked up a package, had a Stanley's Chinese chicken salad, and am listening to an opera calle La Jacquerie be Edouard Lalo and Arthur Coquard. Quite enjoyable.

Love Beethoven. Love the kids. Don’t know that Beethoven needs counterpoint.

That's pretty cool.  Just a couple of days ago, I came across PattyDrums, this guy on YouTube (although he only has seven videos) who, in a couple of his videos, plays his drum set along with classical music:  here are Vivaldi's Winter from "The Four Seasons," and Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. :D

And now, I have to get ready to usher downtown.  My shirt is in the dryer, but I'll have to take it out early so that I can leave on time.  I don't mind it being a little damp.  It'll dry quite quickly.  If my friend Margo is ushering tonight also, we'll probably go out to eat somewhere.  We'll see.

Be back later.
