At first I wondered if today was Friday the 13th. No. I have now named it Atrocious Customer Service Day.

One of my online orders hasn't shipped and I needed to call to check on it. AT&T rerouted the call to themselves so they could, they said, sell me a new phone or tell me how to update my old one. I have an iPhone 5 and AT&T says it will no longer support 3G after next February. I know I need a new phone, but I've been rather busy and this is October, not February. I told them to reinstate my phone service. They did so, but said this will happen again. So now every time I make a call it's subject to rerouting. Is this outrageous or what?

I then called about the online order. They are no longer assisting with existing orders, only taking new orders. Sigh.

When I returned home from acupuncture I tried calling Consumer Cellular about moving my cellphone service to them, but after waiting on hold for 25 minutes still could not get through. Is there no such thing as a decent mobile service? I left AT&T many years ago in disgust and switched to T-Mobile, which proved to be even worse, so I changed back to AT&T. My recent AT&T experiences haven't been all that bad -- until today. I had horrible experiences with Verizon back East. I'll have to check Virgin Mobile. God! You'd think someone could offer decent service!

I'm sure none of that is news to any of you. You've probably alll had equally bad service.

Spectrum now offers mobile service, but they've never been that good with broadband, so why would I want them for mobile?

Most of the time I have been pleased with T-Mobile.  Bryan likes it.  Craig switched to Verizon when we lived in Ashland because we didn't have a good T-Mobile tower, which wasn't a big deal to us back then as we had two land-line numbers.  Recently he talked about returning to T-Mobile.  I don't know if he has done so.

As for AT&T, again in Ashland, over my warnings and protests Keith switched his cell phone to them while I refused to do so.  As soon as he could he switched to T-Mobile, at which time I switched from our local carrier to T-Mobile.

Starting to watch Arise, My Love. Colbert is her usual wacky self. Ray Milland doesn't quite know what's going on. A promising beginning.

Victor Young score. Mitchell Leisen directing.

Kind of a lazy little day, mostly dealing with all these materials we need to get to the licensor of A Carol Christmas. I really don't remember having to do this much stuff for The Brain and that was with a MUCH bigger company.

Listening to the symphonies of Brit composer Edmund Rubbra - he's not as accessible as the pastoral boys - a bit stormier, but he does have some very nice pieces and I think his later symphonies calm down a bit. In fact, his fourth is lovely so... I think his first couple were written during wartime, hence stormy. Overall, I do love most of the Brits of this era.

The movie was made after the fall of Spain and before WWII. It has gotten serious in the last third.

There's a decent amount of his work on YouTube. Will have to check it out. Had never heard of him.

Well, Biden turned down Trump's "executive privilege" attempt to hide his papers from the Jan. 6 committee, and Trump has ordered the four cronies who were subpoenaed to ignore them. The asshole sure acts like an innocent man, doesn't he?

I think he deserves the same punishment as the Brits behind the Gunpowder Plot to blow up Parliament.

Agreed!

I ate a couple of leftover donuts (microwaved for 7 or 8 seconds) earlier this morning, and now I'm feeling the need for a wee bit more indulgence in the form of, say, a Sausage & Egg McMuffin. I don't think I've had one of those in a year and a half.

I'm hoping when the McRib comes back, it's not a letdown.  There was a version of the McRib that was really great, but it was temporary.

My sister used to love these.  She doesn't eat land animals anymore, but she does still miss them.

You assume a lot, my friend. Who really know what McRib is made of? Could be jackfruit.

Could be...but not very likely. ::)
