Topic of the Day #1: (the now late

) Stephen Sondheim. I fell in love with musicals when I was in high school, and at first I knew more about Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jerry Herman and Rodgers & Hammerstein, but at some point discovered Sondheim and was hooked. I've gotten at least one recording of every one of his shows.

Topic of the Day #2: I was in choirs all throughout middle school and high school, and in high school Show Choir, we did a lot of songs by The Manhattan Transfer. I fell in love with them way back in the 1980s and have completely been a fan ever since. I've seen them in concert more than a dozen times, and have even met them when they came to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts!

Well, just as I was going out the door for my doctor appointment, I got a call. My doctor called in sick today! I am so glad they reached me before I left. I can't be re-scheduled until Jan 31, however.

I slept fine until the rudest little dream this morning, from which it was a relief to awaken. I really could have used a bit more sleep, but it was worth it to have realized that the irritating situation was, in fact, a dream, and I could choose to keep my eyes open and banish it. Banish it I did, but the damned thing keeps following me around.

Yesterday evening I was ready to watch something, but didn't know what it should be. I finally pulled the Twilight Time Blu-ray of How to Succeed... off the shelf and greatly enjoyed it. It's one of those I'd briefly checked out when I got it, but this was my first time to watch it straight through.

I look forward to playing it, and especially to seeing how Marist College mounts it.
