Not that I actually care.  Streaming is fine with me.  I think we own two or three DVD's.

The main problem with streaming is that any particular program may not be available all the time.  If I buy something in a physical format, I own it until it is physically damaged or degrades, but the rights to play it can otherwise never be taken away by another company.

True.  How about the quality of what you are watching, DVD vs streaming?

TOD

I cannot match DR Elmore's knowledge and comprehensive lists of good English translations, but I was taught that composers -- in general -- wanted their works to be understood and appreciated, and were surprisingly open to their operas being sung in a region's own language.

But quality and purpose of translation really matters, and I was also taught that those Met ones such as Così, Fledermaus, and Hansel and Gretel were among the very best singing translations. They are still favorites of mine. When just studying an opera, you want a literal translation (the Verdi and Puccini ones by William Weaver were the bible for us in school). But when performing one, it needs to meet different criteria while hopefully being as true to the original as possible.

This really makes me want to take out those recordings.

Well, streaming can be hi-def and DVDs aren't, but I'm less concerned about that versus a title not being available to stream at all.

I didn't see it at first as I was too busy looking at the sweetheart in the box.

Going to the dinosaur museum with a three-year-old boy is very exciting.
