I watched the MGM version of "The Secret Garden", (1949), this evening. It stars Margaret O'Brien, Herbert Marshall and Dean Stockwell, with Brian Roper as Dickon. It has an enviable supporting cast including Elsa Lanchester, Norma Varden, Reginald Owen and the estimable Gladys Cooper,
It's a very well-made film and the young actors are quite good. Bronislau Kaper developed a beautiful theme that doesn't get much play throughout the film but is at its loveliest at the end. Andre Previn conducted.
