People sometimes refer to someone as the brother they never had.

I'd imagine that any "brother I never had" would be better, or at least far less greedy and destructive, than the brother I do have!

It's our fault - we probably should have known what to expect when he brought home a girlfriend named "Lady Macbeth."   That should've been a clue.  :)

I thought that one of Larry Moore's brothers was married to Lady Macbeth!

I watched the MGM version of "The Secret Garden", (1949), this evening.  It stars Margaret O'Brien, Herbert Marshall and Dean Stockwell, with Brian Roper as Dickon.  It has an enviable supporting cast including Elsa Lanchester, Norma Varden, Reginald Owen and the estimable Gladys Cooper,

It's a very well-made film and the young actors are quite good.  Bronislau Kaper developed a beautiful theme that doesn't get much play throughout the film but is at its loveliest at the end.  Andre Previn conducted.

I think that leaves MichaelG to view Drat - although I'm not sure elmore has either - I would recommend not putting it off much longer because it will be going away.

I think I'm onto a new chapter, but I know I have to go back and futz and finesse and add a few things.

Well, today was the day when I finally wrote more than three or four pages - I managed eleven today, and that's what I want to do from now on - it'll be a bit slow going as I have to stop often to research something but ten to twelve pages will be my goal.

And I do hope dear reader Iris is okay. Would love to hear from her. Maybe I'll e-mail her the link to Drat! The Cat!

Condensed Milk (aka Harvey Milk Reimagined) was excellent and a very stirring performance. We knew several people in the chorus and then saw other opera friends in the audience afterwards.

Tomorrow we have a bat mitzvah followed by Esa-Pekka Salonen's second-to-last concert as music director of the San Francisco Symphony.
