I have been very fortunate. I have never been seriously ill or injured.

We just got an email from our health insurance company saying that the contract with our doctor's office expires at the end of this month. Hopefully they will come to an agreement. Because our doctor is part of one of the three conglomerates that perform all the health care in town.

Reading through the serious medical situations that all us DRs have weathered leaves me feeling...   grateful.

I know.  Is it anything like...survivor's guilt? :-\

Oh, no!  Hope it all gets worked out, Laura!

One of my favorite things each year is being asked by Bruce to proofread his books. This year, I feel doubly fortunate since he's written a second book. I won't reveal anything about it, except to say that it moved me very deeply. And yes, this old curmudgeon even shed a tear or two on more than one occasion. It's the most heart-felt book of his that I've read, and I've read all but a couple of the early ones.

I had a lovely evening on the Guadalupe tonight. Dinner with friends outdoors at the Gristmill, a wonderful restaurant with the likes of chicken-fried steak, beef tenderloin salad and chicken topped with queso and salsa. I, of course, had trout. Oh well.

Wrote a very rough version of the flap copy - I'll finesse it later and then send it to a couple of people to finesse.

I had wanted to go see a band that was playing at Gruene Dance Hall next door, but the line to get in was enormous and everyone looked like he or she was 15. We all felt old. So, we went past the line to an ice cream shop. I had a scoop of goat cheese and raspberry jam, plus a scoop of coffee Oreo. Divine.

Today and even this evening were much better than yesterday. Voice is a bit stronger. Vaporizer arrived but I haven't set it up yet. I'll probably do that tomorrow.

They had a pair of musicians playing in the courtyard there, so we listened to them. They were fun, old-time rock. Tom Petty stuff. Plus, "If I Only Had a Heart" from The Wizard of Oz.

I've got one more dose of Ny-Quil. I may try tomorrow night sans Ny-Quil. I also only have one more Claritin-D but they've been working well, so I may get another box tomorrow - or maybe I'll just try the Flonase and hope for the best.

The drive home was horrible, however, as most of I-35 had been reduced from five lanes to one, causing an hour or more delay in the traffic.

Thankfully, I started to listen to a fun audiobook, Disco Queens of Fire Island.

Started watching season two of Shooter - right off the bat we got an action scene and then - wait for it - "Three Days Earlier."
