THE LAST OF THE GUNK
« on: July 13, 2025, 12:06:50 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had some gunk and hopefully it's the last of it, and now it is time for you to post until the gunky cows come home.

They should call that Follies cover, Bob Fosse's Follies.

They should call that Follies cover, Bob Fosse's Follies.

That's Liz Robertson on the cover, the widow of Alan Jay Lerner, playing Phyllis.

I did find that there's a copy of that Follies on eBay, for only approximately $24.95 US (£18.49 GBP) plus $12.28 shipping...a REAL bargain compared to €2000.00! ;)

After the night before. I slept amazingly well last night, and the cats and I slept in. After a bathroom break around 3:15 - no cat vomit on the floor - Thatch became possessive and insistent that I pet and cuddle with him. When I stopped or fell asleep, he got in my face and let me know he needed attention! Around 5:30 Annabelle came down from her mountain retreat to do the same thing. Trying to sleep and keep two cats happy ain't easy.

That Follies from France is conducted by my friend David Charles Abell, whom those of us on the Musical Theatre project John McGlinn and The Packard Humanities Institute began in 2001, wanted to take over when McGlinn was sacked.

I saw Graham Bickley in London in 1998 oin a dreadful musical called Maddie, based on a Jack Finney novel and the Mandy Patinkin movie Maxie. If my memory is correct, my friend Martin Connor directed it.

Leonard starts off the night with us -- between us. He usually leaves about an hour later and patrols. If I wake up in the middle of the night, he's usually in the cat bed on the floor. Sometimes he's on the rocking chair in the living room. He's not a cuddler.

I need to head into the kitchen to make some muffins and scones for church this morning out of leftover ingredients from VBS.

Weird dreams, part of them recurring. I suddenly realized I still had a job with a newspaper in Atlanta and showed up for work. I had no idea what to do and the deadline was that day. Since Superman is such a big hit at the theaters, I was going to make it the cover story. I went to the movie critic I used to work with, and he treated me poorly because he wanted my job and wasn’t pleased to see me back. The building was a weird maze of businesses like a shopping mall. I don’t know why Atlanta since I never lived or worked there.

I have a two-disc set of the Maddie score. Dreadful.
