Saturday evening greetings!  I’ve been to 2 book discussions since my last post here.

Thursday evening my local AAUW friends met to discuss Ina Garten’s memoir.  Our hostess baked Ina’s brownie recipe for us and the consensus was - NO.

This morning I Zoomed with statewide AAUW friends to discuss The Women by Kristen Hannah.  While the story is an important one to tell, I wish it weren’t so soap opera-ish.

My ending impression of The Women, too.

I like my Katherine Hepburn brownie recipe.

Yes. That is the best.

I spent the day in the hills drinking wine and bourbon.

It was nice. But hot.

[John G.]

I drove through a tiny area that had been impacted by the flooding. Trees were knocked down and each fence post on both sides of the road was covered in debris. The water was higher than normal, but it wasn’t moving faster than normal.

Still there were emergency vehicles all along the interstate from San Antonio to Comfort. Helicopters were flying overhead. And there were safety teams at the one bridge I crossed that had flooded.

And I was in a less-affected spot.

The "cookout" turned out to be rather fancy.

It was a double birthday party.

For dessert, there were 3 options.

First, individual chocolate mousses topped with homemade chocolate whipped cream.
