DR George, I enjoyed reading more about your day on your property and seeing the pretty photo.

Thanks, Jane!

From George:

Quote
My uncle made a cake (DON'T READ THIS, JANE!) with hazelnuts and chocolate shavings in the batter, and covered in melted chocolate.

It really is sad how people ruin chocolate cakes for me ;D  It sounds yummy.

My mom was going to get a copy of the recipe.  I'm sure the hazelnuts can either be replaced with something to your liking or even left out.

What did your niece eat?

I forget what she had. :-\ I know she ate something, though.

I am enjoying some homemade zucchini bread from my cousin Carol.

It is most excellent - with nuts - and even more so with Cool Whip.

I have enough left for another round later this afternoon.

Yum!

But that's tomorrow, not today. Today is for projects like giving the musical equipment a good cleaning, scanning some color slides for Vintage L.A. on Facebook, shopping for some fun food and drink, and settling down into watching something good or a couple of somethings good this evening.

What do you use to scan slides?

My trusty old flatbed Canon scanner, the CanoScan 9000F, which includes attachments for scanning 35mm film strips (including negatives) and mounted 35mm slides.

I lose a LITTLE something in color fidelity on certain things, but it's of such a subtle nature that you only see it when comparing with the original side by side. But this scanner has been a godsend. It'll be here on my desk until the day it departs the earth, which I hope won't be any time soon.

Hot as fresh milk out there.

And, of course, once again, humid as all HELL.

I've never had House of Pies' chicken pot pie - it does look good in the photo - how would it travel, though?

DR FREDDIE nice post about Skip and his friend.  It's so nice when those things happen.

We have not seen a photo of Skip for awhile.......or the corgis.  Not that they should be grouped together in any way.

Apropos of nothing.

I would like a refrigerator with a bottom drawer freezer.

But I can't find one that will fit in the space that my refrigerator occupies.

What kind of refrigerator do you have?  Freezer on top....side by side...freeaer drawer on the bottom?

Right now I have....freezer on top.

I just read that Virginia Giuffre, who appears prominently in the Netflix Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, killed herself this past April. She was the young girl who accused Prince Andrew of rape set up by Ghislaine Maxwell. Prince Andrew called her a prostitute and denied knowing her until this photo of him, Virginia, and Ghislaine showed up.
