It was the only decent thing to do.

Ushered for a funeral this morning. The governor spoke. I made sure I was far from him.

I hope it wasn't someone with a personal connection to you.  Sorry you even had to look at the governor.

It was the person who helped drive the building of the theater. I met him once for just a few minutes.

RIP Jamshied Sharifi, gone much too soon. He joined the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble when I left after my grad school degree. He and his fellow new band members took the group to some of its greatest heights. I was so happy when he took over directorship of the FJE when Herb Pomeroy retired. Of course, Boston couldn't hold his musical talents for long. His gifts of music will keep giving joy to all who listen.

Another memory of the Broadway URBAN COWBOY:  Since the ad campaign very much featured an alluring picture of its leading man, the audience in previews was quite skewed towards gay men.  And the result was that there was a rather short line for the ladies' room at intermission, but a noticeably longer line than usual at the men's room.

I must take out A Patch of Blue and add it to my watch pile.

Me, too.  I bought that on Blu-ray, as well as A Place in the Sun, both of which feature Shelley Winters.

One of the suggested videos after the KotSW trailer was this auto-generated voice talking about a new version of Pal Joey, to be called Chez Joey.  It was done at Encores! a couple of years ago, and co-directed by Savion Gover and Tony Goldwyn:

In a move that's got the theater world buzzing, Arena Stage is reimagining the classic musical Pal Joey and changing its title to Chez Joey. But there's more to this story than meets the eye. Savion Glover and Tony Goldwyn are co-directing Richard LaGravenese's revised version, which sets the musical in 1940s Chicago and reimagines Joey Evans as a Black jazz singer. But why the title change? And what's the real story behind this controversial decision? We dive deep into the scandal, the secrets, and the shocking truth behind Chez Joey....

From George:

Quote
I'm glad it's not going to rain around here.  I have sanded but unfinished shelves in my back yard, ready for me to stain them to (sort of) match the shelves on my bookshelves.

You had better do it fast, or wait until after the heatwave headed our way.

I brought the boards inside so that they're not out there sitting in the sun.

Thanks, Jane, I am.  I woke up with the headache less achey than yesterday, and it's definitely getting better as the day goes on.
