Never heard a peep. Higher up said they'll run the book by their attorney - my response was an attorney's job is to find problems. None of my books have ever gone through ANY of this. I told him I'd wait till Monday but I see no path forward with AH, they've made me look bad with my friend, and that at this point either we do it or we don't and if it's the latter then refund her immediately and we'll just do the softcover with KDP on Amazon - of course, that means Doug has to redo the cover and spine, drop in a bar code, and we have to redo the copyright page.

I know my people at the company are trying to make it work. They e-mail me immediately, always. Once you give in on this kind of stupidity, everyone is going to suffer - there is NO giving in - not one word or name. First of all, one of the come-ons of any print on demand company is that the AUTHOR remains in control of the content. Oops.

I sat down to erase old voicemails that I never listen to on the landline - 78 of them. As soon as I finished, sitting in my armchair, I went out like a light for a solid two hours - it's a really comfy chair, much more conducive to good sleep than the couch.
