Sunday was the marquee event of the weekend - grandson George’s baptism.  After the church service we all gathered at Rob and Mary Linda’s for a lovely champagne brunch.  My contribution to that meal was homemade cinnamon pecan coffee cake that Charlotte and Hannah liked - a lot.

All of the guests, including us, left so that the household could regain some normalcy for the new week.  We didn’t see them again before our smooth drive home yesterday.

I'm glad your coffee cake was a big hit with the girls.  Did you bake it at home or while at their house? 

DR Jane, I baked the coffee cakes (one with nuts, one without) at home and froze them.  What I made when we got there was what Rob used to call “Gram Cheese,” because his Gram (my mother) made it when he was little.  It’s a combination of cream cheese and any spreadable sharp cheddar, formed into a ball and rolled in chopped pecans (or not).  The girls liked it, too.

I'm sure it was much easier baking them at home.  The cheese balls, without pecans, sound yummy.

I'm suddenly in the mood for pumpkin bread.

I used to make olive cheese balls.  A cheese and flour mix wrapped around an olive and then baked.  I could roll them ahead of time and freeze them, then bake them later.

I'm curious who has a favorite for the new mayor of NYC.

Our votes are in. 

But the phone calls from the "telemarketers" trying to sway our votes are still coming in.

Of course they are.

I have taken my hearing aids out while Keith has put ear plugs in his ears.

It's like Shelly and me when we need to read small print:  she puts her reading glasses on and I take my glasses off.

LOL, that used to be us until I had my cataract surgery.  Now we both struggle to see up close.

Finally off the shift. I worked 14.75 hours today.

Early in the morning, two co-workers said we would have 1,000 voters. I said 1,200. We had 1,280. None of us had any sympathy for the people standing in line. We had two weeks of no waiting. And we told the people that.

Barely. Made it to a food truck. Am awaiting some ceviche.
