I was eight when my family vacationed in Mexico.  Food wise that was a big treat, all the Mexican food we wanted as long as it was cooked.

Prior to that I remember going to Tijuana and my father permitting us to eat tocos from a food truck and worrying that we would get sick.  We didn't.

Jane - I saw in my online chart that the "eye photo" test the doctor had me take last Wednesday is specifically defined as being because of diabetes.  So I guess it's not a routine test taken for seniors.

I'll hear any results at my next appointment Wednesday afternoon, but am REALLY hoping that if there's a problem needing attention, he'll contact me before then.

And that explains why your doctor ordered it.

Your results might show up on your short before you see the doctor.

Continued vibes all is good.

Here's a pretty good full-stage video of "One Night in Bangkok" from the new CHESS that just got posted.

For those who might insist that Aaron Tveit is a regular guy who puts his pants on "one leg at a time" like the rest of us :) - such a fun choreographic moment at 2:07 into the YouTube

CHESS - One Night in Bangkok (Aaron Tveit)

The tempo is slow, but their enunciation is good. I found it a bit tacky.

Ditto and ditto...and ditto. ;)

I wanna see Pity the Child.

I thought it really kicked into high gear around 2-1/2 minutes in.

John G, I don't know if you saw this the other day.

I thought the staging was quite interesting as to what a full Broadway staging of a number can be in 2025.

I'd imagine Lea Michele's fan base is feeling very satisfied that they're getting their $300-and-up worth.   Yet I wonder how this would play with a non-star.

CHESS - Nobody’s Side (Lea Michele)

She sings it really well, but they don't have her doing anything.  And her hands look huge! :o

As a comparison, here's Helen Sjöholm in the Swedish production:

MichaelG could tell us how it played in person.

The choreographic move drew gasps from the audience, including me. If it's getting applause now that's probably because people know it's coming. For us it was a complete surprise.

I'd call it sleazy rather than tacky, but that's kind of the point of the number, contrasting so completely with Merano. As with all the big songs in the show, it got huge applause.

Does anyone know anythimg about Zelle? Can it be used on a computer? I'm trying to learn more about it, but it looks as if you can only use it on a phone!

Zelle works great. It's supported by many banks. If your bank supports it, you just use it from the bank's website. I always use it on my computer, never on my phone.

Like Chas, it took me moving to California in my early 20s to try Mexican food and even then it was Taco Bell, but that was a good gateway drug to teach me what the various things were, like, I didn’t even know what a burrito was back then. After Taco Bell, I was open to try any place.

Back in Indiana as a kid, my sisters would make tacos out of some kind of kit, but those seemed exotic to me and I would just eat the meat and cheese.

I'm not sure whether that was from the time when Elaine Paige and Tim Rice were a couple.

I found it interesting that Tim Rice tried to (or maybe even did) write a lyric for a moment (maybe "Memory") in CATS - which of course we now know wasn't used.

This is from the Wikipedia page for CATS:
However, "Memory", an 11 o'clock number for Grizabella that Nunn insisted the show needed as its "emotional centre",still had no lyrics at this point. Lloyd Webber's former writing partner Tim Rice was brought in to write a lyric for the song, but his version was rejected by Nunn for being too depressing. The lyrics for "Memory" were not completed by Nunn until well into the previews.

I used to have what was supposed to have been Tim Rice's version of "Memory," but I can't seem to find the Word document or PDF on my computer. :P

…I don't think I had any Mexican food after 1958 until I moved to New York in 1979.

I forgot! And Andrea had taco parties, too, between 1975and 1979.

DR Elmore, remember I used to make nachos at cast parties?  Do those count?

Larry - Congratulations on reaching your Marvelous 74,000 Millstone.

Because a person should celebrate everything passing by.

Congrats, Larry!!

Speaking of guacamole...

Again, one of my favorite things. DR George should pass all of his over here. That way, there won't be any left on the table to embarrass us when they bring the check.

I do remember my first taste of an avocado. I'd been in L.A. for a couple of months when someone took us to a place called Horticulture Holiday on the Sunset Strip, and they had me try the avocado from a large salad plate. HOOKED. From that day forward. I could eat avocados every day, and occasionally do.

I would gladly give you my guacamole, ChasSmith...every time!

I shall now be on my way to put gas in the motor car and then to the theater.

I filled my tank at Fred Meyer last night, and with my rewards points, I got 50, count 'em, FIFTY cents per gallon OFF! :D

Yes, and while they are very cute I would be very hesitant to get one unless it was a rescue.  My Berner (short for Bernese Mt. Dog) friends who breed quality Bernese Mt. Dogs truly dislike them, mostly because the breeders use poor Berners for breeding them.

Oh, no. :-\

I feel really bad for you that you don't like guacamole.  For one, avocados are a healthy food.  It must be a pain to have to make sure guacamole isn't added to your food when you order Mexican food.

It's real easy to say hold the guac, or put it on the side. ;) And if something accidentally does have it, I can either remove it or eat it.  Fortunately, I'm not allergic.  I just don't care for it.
