From DR Rodzinski,

Quote
I had to go down to normie Washington for physical therapy and a Costco run. Fog as thick as pea soup from the late Andersen’s in Solvang.

Where is that?  How was your PT visit?
Not bad. Trying to regain some flexibility in my right shoulder.

Vibes it doesn't take too long for your flexibility to return.

Our little family will go to one of the two functioning restaurants in our little hamlet for an early NYE dinner.

Nice.

It’s sunny here. About 43.

Sunny is good.  It is also sunny here and a wee bit warmer.

Back from the mail place. Got there at 3:05 - plenty of folks inside. Sign on the door says closed at three. There's a customer coming to the door and the employees have already seen me there and waved me in. But instead of opening the door, this customer, who does NOT have a mail box there but is just another tiresome Amazon return idiot, turns to the help and says, "you want this guy to come in when you're closed?" - they say yes. He then asks them again. Finally he opens the door and I say, "Really swell of you to open the door for me. Do understand that I actually pay a good deal of money to have a mail box here and for doing that I have this thing called a KEY to the front door. I just thought since you're opening it I'd let you." He didn't even look at me.

It's been raining - lightly but steadily. If it stops, I have to take out some garbage.

We just got back from an unexpected trip to Buellton. College friends of ours from Boston were visiting their son in Newport Beach. Yesterday they had a day off while he was working.

So we picked someplace in between with wineries and good restaurants open on Tuesdays, and Buellton was it.

We did a tasting at Beckmen Vineyards and then dinner at Hitching Post II, as seen in Sideways.

Our friends made it a day trip from Newport Beach, but we had farther to drive so we came in on Monday and left today.

Soon it'll be time to make dinner. We like to have local Dungeness crab and Champagne on New Year's Eve, but this year the season won't start for another few days yet.

So we'll have roast duck with vermouth to go with the Champagne.

Smart move.  I wouldn't have done it in one day, even from Newport Beach.

DR John,

What a shame Gary Owen was dreadful.

I don’t like most comedians. I’m too old to find their material funny. He had a 10-minute routine about P. Diddy. Sorry, I don’t want details about his horrific sex life, much less take that abuse and turn it into comedy.

Have you heard (of) Gianmarco Soresi?  I think he's very funny  He was also a musical theater kid, so even though he's straight, he's an LGBTQIA+ ally. :)
