The cedar pollen count is now over 20,000 and I can feel it. Ugh.

Sorry.

Funeral pie! I think I heard that long ago. I see it's an Amish/Pennsylvania Dutch thing.

But I'm elated to see it's raisin pie -- my #1 favorite at House of Pies in the early 1970s. I'm looking at recipes now. The sour cream/custard filling is what had me stumped when trying to remember it. But hey ... look it up, and there it is. Ain't Google grand?

I enjoyed the movie very much and thought Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson were both terrific....and they of course BOTH did their own singing.

Might be my favorite movie of the year.....but of course there are a lot more to see. But I doubt that I will bother.

Tickets were $5 each.

Great to hear!  That you enjoyed it, and the ticket price! (not great about the extra steps)

I don’t think they’re getting much outta me today.

It is a shame you don't have any work for them to do.

I had a key and could understand all but one of the questions on their worksheet. One girl did ask for help and I was able to explain it. But the one I didn’t get is a doozy.

Good for you.

What is your favorite cookie?

Any cookie in front of me.

Be honest. You’ll turn around and try the ones behind you too.

DR JANE sorry to mislead.....my local plex - 7 screens - changed it's name from Showtime Cinema to Torchlight Cinema.

But it was the LAST showing of Song Sung Blue in the plex at 11 a.m. so it was now or never - as Elvis used to say.

We started out in theeder number 7 - but 30 seconds into the movie the screen went blank.  Finally the lights came on and a young lady walked down the aisle and said that the projector was not working.

So all 12 of us got moved down to Theeder One!  The B I G one.....great sound....but a few too many unexpected steps for me.

I wasn't sure which way you meant it.  I'm glad your theater is still open for business.  Lucky you getting to watch it in the theater with the best sound.

I don't believe I have ever had raisin pie.

I made a rum raisin pie once. It was really good. My MIL refused it.

If I'm ever in a position to order a mixed drink, I think it will be a vodka stinger.

This is the third Wednesday/Thursday in a row that we've been teased with rain. Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day.

Today it is finally raining.  It didn't last long, but at least I could hear it.

Thursday afternoon greetings!  We just returned from our community’s resident association dessert meeting.  They served pumpkin crème brûlée and gave us only forks.

How you gonna get the bottom of the creme brulee with a fork? That’s just cruel.

Topic of the Day:  I rarely drink, but if I do, I like creamy drinks like Bailey's or Kahlua or egg nog...all thinned out with milk or cream, though. ::)

Since tasting my way through Ireland, except when I was sick for the Jameson tour, I now appreciate a shot or two of Bushmill's Irish Whiskey.  I never really was a fan of Jameson though I was still looking forward to tasting  part of the tour.

I thin my eggnog with bourbon.

There are several versions. One with two crusts, another with a topping.
