You folks are better than me at being able to watch the news. I can take very little of it these days.

Me neither.

"Vacuuming the play" is one of those perfectly descriptive BK-isms I have long meant to share with my director - who's unfortunately retiring from the local scene, but he can still make use of it from time to time. I wonder what the other ones are that I've forgotten to share. I'm sure they're all in Directed By.

The great Hungarian director Bela Tarr has died. Werckmeister Harmonies is one of the most darkly beautiful, mesmerizing films I have ever seen.

You folks are better than me at being able to watch the news. I can take very little of it these days.

I learn all the news I get through this group or Mrs R. I’m not proud of this, but the news makes me very anxious, so this is best for my health.

Obviously, I like wine. I also enjoy beer and cocktails. Negronis, real martinis (gin only) and real margaritas (not sweet) are probably my favorite mixed drinks.

That said, I don’t drink much anymore. Holidays and dinners with friends. I don’t really drink alone.

I am, however, as Bonnie Tyler sang, holding out for a hero, someone to rally around.

I will drink a cold beer on an evening out at a nice place, occasionally wine. I suppose my go-to other drink is Cointreau and soda.

To Mrs. R’s chagrin, I always order it as “Cointreau and sod-y” as a tribute to this sublime Martin Short scene in The Big Picture.

When I was stage managing a couple of shows with a particular actor - once I gave  the 15 minute call he would give me some $$ and ask me to get him a sody pop.

Which I was always glad to do because it always made me laugh.

When I am out I always order a nice Vodka gimlet.

When I am home I sometimes make a pitcher of vodka and cranberry juice.....

Have we previously discussed the series on PBS called HAPPINESS - about a Broadway director who loses his visa and finds himself back at the community theater from when he grew up in New Zealand?

We happened on it last night, and it was six episodes, about 20 minutes each, so easy to just watch straight through in 2+ hours.  The people you root for and the people you dislike keep shifting during the series, but extremely entertaining.

The musical the theater group is performing within the series is a TROJAN HORSE musical.

TOD: I'm a wine guy, but I also like beer and single-malt Scotch. I'm not much of a cocktail fan, except at one restaurant that makes them really well with great flavors that match their food better than beer or wine do.

We've had a Zoom meeting on the ballet scheduled  today for noon since November 11 for today with Doug, Phil, me, and half of the deans at the North Carolina School of the Arts. At 11:15, I began the frenzy to be ready for the meeting only to get three emails canceling today's meeting because the dean of the Music Dept didn't realize it was today and he has issues to deal with. Oy!
