June 6, 2003:

THE RECORDING METAPHOR

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had a lovely impromptu chat last night. We discussed many topics and it was wild and wooly and also wooly and wild. Today, I shall have to keep these here notes short because I must be on my way to put together all the vocals we did whilst in New York, New York.

I’ve decided I’m still jet lagged, so I must try and get some more sleep – perhaps this evening I shall go to bed early and perhaps tomorrow morning I shall wake up late and perhaps that will help me get over the jet lag I am currently feeling. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Today we’re pleased to present our latest Unseemly Interview with Mr. Kevin Chamberlin, he of Seussical, Triumph of Love and Dirty Blonde. It’s a load of fun and very frank and even occasionally very sammy – at one point it’s even very dean and liza. So, check it out – it will be up at some point today.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must be on my way to put together vocals because today feels like a put together vocal day.

Has anyone noticed that today feels like a put together vocal day. I feel we should all put together vocals today, don’t you, dear readers? I feel we should all say everything three times and then choose the best lines and put them together. Oh, if life were only like a recording – we could put together our vocals, we could mix it the way we like, and we could cover up all the mistakes. Well, my goodness, I do believe we’ve got a metaphor going on. There is nothing like a good metaphor so early in the morning – I believe we shall call it our morning metaphor. Can someone tell me why there is a “ph” in “metaphor” rather than an “f” as in metafor? No, someone can not tell me why there is a fershluganah “ph” in “metaphor” because there is no good reason on earth for it. What the hell am I talking about?

Don’t forget, in addition to our Unseemly Interview, Donald will have a brand spanking new radio show up (at least I think he will) on Sunday, and, of course, on Sunday we’ll all be watching the Tony Awards. Therefore, our next Unseemly Live Chat will be Monday night at six o’clock Pacific Mean Daylight Savings Time, and we’ll discuss the Tonys and anything else we wish to.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go hither and thither and even yon, I must put together vocals, I must listen to many vocal takes, I must eat various and sundried foodstuffs, and I must try to get to sleep early this evening. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD and DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, a Lalo Schifin album called Piano, Strings and Bossa Nova, which I adore and which just came out as an import CD. DVD, the final episodes of the anime series Noir, and then Mr. Fritz Lang’s Cloak and Dagger with Mr. Gary Cooper. Your turn.
