THIS VERY DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here it is, another gloriously glorious weekend here in Los Angeles, California, USA. Yesterday flew by like a gazelle on speedballs. First I did some writing in the early morning hours. Then I went to my mail place and picked up four heavy boxes of books and several other packages. The books look lovely and I can’t wait until we have a website from which you can order them (hopefully on schedule for Monday). I then had a lovely luncheon with our Japanese lurker, Hisaka, and her friend (whose name I can pronounce but not spell). Hisaka was very nice and we all had fun trying to understand each other. She brought me a present – a DVD of a Kon Ichikawa film based on a Yukio Mishima novel. I’m a fan of Mr. Ichikawa and I’ll be looking forward to seeing it. After luncheon I picked up the copies of the Writer’s Block CDs. Then I did a bit more writing (I’m literally in the last three or four pages now). The Mr. Pool Man came by and we finally got the pool lights working and I love them. They rotate colors and it’s so pretty to sit in the Jacuzzi while the water changes colors before your very eyes. Then I attended to a few other things that needed attending, and then I went to Kinko’s and picked up the covers for the CDs. All in all, a lovely day, rather like a gazelle on speedballs.

Last night, I started watching a motion picture on DVD, the delightful, The More the Merrier. I’ll have a full report for you tomorrow. I also picked up the animated version of Animal Farm from the fifties, newly out on a Home Vision DVD. I’ve always loved this film (it was how I was introduced to the story, and I immediately read the book and loved it, too – the film is surprisingly faithful to its source) – the animation is wonderful and it just has a totally unique feel to it. I looked at a bit and it looks pretty good – again, I’ll have a full report as soon as I finish watching.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must do many things this very day.

It was my intention to bring back our Unseemly Trivia contest this very day, but I never had time to find a good question, so I promise it will return next Saturday.

I booked my flight for New York and its return, and I’ll know about a hotel today or Monday.

My goodness, these here notes have suddenly got very brisk, haven’t they? Terse, almost.

I got a last minute invite to go see our very own Mr. Jason Graae in Grand Hotel at the Colony Theater this afternoon. Tickets are completely sold out for the entire run, but he somehow managed to score me one. I’m very interested to see this show divorced from its original wonderful production. When I first saw it, I was bowled over by the production itself but not the show itself. I’ll have a full report for you, of course, after I see it this very day.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must write, I must do errands, I must visit a few stores, I must travel in my motor car to the Bank of Bur to see Grand Hotel and then heaven-knows-what-else I shall do. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s wrong casting day here at haineshisway.com. We’re doing our new revival of South Pacific, so let’s hear your most wrong casting choices. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s have them this very day.
