UNSEEMLY BUTTOCKS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here it is, the start of a brand spanking new week, and it’s quite a busy one for the likes of me. I must prepare for my trip, I must do tons of errands and such, I must purchase a new carry-on bag, and I must ship the Writer’s Block CDs to my hotel so they’ll be there for Friday’s reading/signing/singing. Of course, I must do all this stuff whilst the Floor People are replacing floorboards in the bedroom environment. I suspect it’s going to be just a wee bit annoying having men hammering and such, but I shall have to deal with it and deal with it I shall, like a gazelle in Speedos. Yesterday I had quite a nice day doing not much of anything. I brought pages to my friend Margaret, I went grocery shopping, I picked up some packages that were waiting for me, and I sat on my sofa like so much fish. I have been swimming every day, so I feel quite healthy, and I have definitely lost a few pounds. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Yesterday, I watched two count them two motion pictures on DVD, both of them directed by the marvelous Patrice Leconte. First up was Tango, a black comedy about a pilot who catches his wife with her lover – he kills them both, but is acquitted by the judge in the case, who withholds certain evidence from the jury. Some months later, the judge’s nephew’s wife leaves him and he wants her dead. So, the judge goes to see the man he got acquitted and tells him he must kill the ex-wife of his nephew. It’s very funny, and very clever, and even has a happy ending and a great last line. The actors are wonderful, especially the brilliant Philippe Noiret. After that, I watched Mr. Leconte’s Le Parfum d’Yvonne (The Scent of Yvonne). What a wonderful motion picture entertainment it is. A very rueful look back at lost love, shot beautifully, scored beautifully, and acted beautifully. I’m still waiting to see a less-than-entertaining film by Mr. Leconte, who, for me, has become a world-class great director.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below – you know, for three years I’ve been typing “Unseemly Button” and every time I do it looks like it says “Unseemly Buttocks”. Perhaps we’d all better click on the Unseemly Buttocks instead of the Unseemly Button. Wouldn’t that be a refreshing change of pace?

I like the idea of Unseemly Buttocks, don’t you? Speaking of Unseemly Buttocks, today I shall be attending the annual vintage paperback show in Mission Hills. I’ll be going with my pal Mr. Nick Redman, and we’ll be meeting the Pogues at the show. I really like the vintage paperback show, because I love looking at all those old paperback book covers. Plus, my friend who deals in the original art from paperback covers should be there, too, so maybe I’ll pick up a little something from him. Perhaps he’ll have some original art for some Unseemly Buttocks.

At some point in the later afternoon, I will have to hie myself to the Oaks of Sherman to hear some more Guy Haines tracks. That will be ever so much fun. I’m putting off until Monday going to find my new carry-on bag. I still don’t have the foggiest where to go look for such a thing. I guess I’ll go to a mall – maybe The Grove or something.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must drive about in my motor car, and do all the things I’ve written about in these here notes. I shall be running around like a gazelle in Speedos. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to make with the snappy postings. Let’s have loads of lovely posts, shall we, as we all merrily type away whilst sitting on our Unseemly Buttocks.
