190,000 POSTS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, today we will be achieving our new plateau of 190,000 posts, our last stop on the way to our big plateau of 200,000 posts, for which we will be having a major celebration the likes of which you’ve never seen. So, we will, of course, have a little partay for our new plateau, which will unfortunately waylay some of us from beginning our race to lose ten pounds. Speaking of ten pounds, yesterday was such a busy day that I don’t even remember all the things that I did. But, let us see if we can reconstruct the day, shall we? First off, I woke up. That was a fine event. Then I went over to Staples and bought a ton of shipping items, which I then brought home. Then I did some shipping that I had to do. That took until one o’clock. I then went to the home environment of Mr. Terry Trotter (who lives three doors down from me), where I met with a singer he’s been working with. She is prepping an act for the Gardenia, and was interested in working with me. The first thing out of her mouth was how opinionated she is. I told her she knew nothing about being opinionated. She then sang through some songs, and I listened. We chatted about a few things, and then I had to leave. She’d like to go ahead with it, but I’m not certain it’s for me yet. I’ll be discussing it further with Terry before I do or don’t commit to it. I then met with PennyO. We went to Marie Callendar’s and had an early dinner or a late lunch, not necessarily in that order. We discussed the four actor version of her show, and I gave her my thoughts, and out of that I think she agreed with my feelings and we came up with a new sort of structure for the beginning of the show, which will help clarify things and which will be a better set up for all that follows. And the structure allows a bookend to the show that’s really fun, and also gives a strong through-line to it. She’s going to do a rewrite, then we’ll have a reading with actors, then we’re going to try to get it on its feet in October, here in LA. After that, I came home, wrote some more lyrics, polished the new scene David Wechter sent (basically the end of the show), and then I had to be on my way to the theater for the evening performance of the play. Having six days off between the weekend shows is not doing the performances any good, and I’m afraid it was a very weak performance, low energy, with everyone a beat behind the entire play. The second act was especially egregious, with Matt forgetting many lines, and the other actor also forgetting, and also not coming anywhere near the character that I wrote. I did give him a new opening line, which we put in, and that one line is the one line he did well, and I liked it and will keep it in. In fact, it’s just a smoother version of what was already there. I spoke to Tammy and Matt after the show, and they were both aware it was really sub-par and they’ll do what needs to be done to get it back up to speed for tonight’s show. We may have very big play news in a day or two, so stay tuned. After the show, I was very tired and I came home, but had to start right in on these here notes. As soon as they are finished, I shall then sit on my couch like so much fish.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because soon we will be achieving our new plateau of 190,000 postings and we shall be eating cheese slices and ham chunks and cake, baby, cake.

I have a crazy day today. First I go to Mr. David Wechter’s and we’re going to read through our new musical and see how it feels. We’ll make lots of notes and I’ll most likely be doing all the polishing and rewriting during the upcoming week. Then we’ll do our first read-through with the students of the Musical Theater Workshop (MTW) in about a week-and-a-half. After the reading, I come back home to work with Miss Tammy Minoff on her song for the next class. I want the class to see how she addresses the very specific notes and makes them work for her. After she performs it again, then we’ll break down the notes and she’ll tell them how she approached and implemented them. I think that will be very interesting for the class to hear. We may then have a spot of lunch, and then I’ll watch a DVD or three before heading over to the theater for the evening performance of the play.

I am here to tell you that tomorrow I will not do a spot of work. I will relax and watch DVDs and do anything I feel like, but I will clear my brain for the busy week ahead (if certain things come to pass, it will be busier than even I can imagine).

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, run around like a gazelle in a psycho ward, I must run around like a gazelle on PCP, I must run around like a gazelle doing the mambo Italiano. Today’s topic of discussion: If you were to have a dinner party filled with the most interesting people you could think of, who would be in attendance, and what would you serve for dinner. Much detail, please. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let us see just how fast we can achieve our new plateau of 190,000 postings.
