March 8, 2009:

AND THIS IS MY BELOVED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we shall continue our little trip down memory lane in tomorrow’s notes, but for today I shall write short and sweet notes because I’m quite spent and I don’t really know why. I suppose part of it is that this past week flew by, like a gazelle doing One Grecian Urn. What an odd day it was yesterday. I got up too early after some odd dreams. I then did the long jog, very oddly. I will say that after two-and-a-half years, it looks like they’re finally finishing the street work on Moorpark Avenue. They’ve had it down to one lane for about a quarter of a mile and it’s taken them these two-and-a-half years to do what really could have been done in about two-and-a-half weeks. They’ve finally taken down the barriers and the street is now wide again, although they haven’t finished paving it and there are no lines on the street to separate out the lanes, and LA drivers do need their lines and lanes so they can veer into other people’s lanes whilst yakking on their cell phones and texting their nearest and dearest. I got home, and then did a project that took most of the day – perhaps I’ll talk about it in the posts. At three, I was starving, so I went over to Hugo’s with a friend and had Pasta Papa, which was, as always, yummilicious. I picked up a couple of packages, then came home and finished up the project. I tried to watch a motion picture on DVD but just couldn’t concentrate, so I shut it off around seven and just played on Ye Olde Computer. I listened to quite a few CDs and am almost caught up. I cleaned up my kitchen table (where the computer is) and it’s all neat and lovely. And that was my day, and that was my evening, and this is my beloved – oh, a Wright and Forrest reference.

Speaking of Wright and Forrest, someone posted that there seemed to be a typo on the Anya cover – King spelled as Kind. It was one of the usual suspects gloating that there was a typo. Others followed suit. I posted and told them that “seemed to be” was the operative phrase and that we’d caught the typo and it had been corrected before going to print. Of course, the usual suspects couldn’t be bothered to come back and say, “Excellent.” Hit and run, that’s what they do, and that’s why I rarely look at that particular board or post there (only a handful of times in the last year). For Illya Darling, they’re on their own – I won’t be alerting them to that one, thanks to the usual suspects. It’s just not worth it for me to have to even look at their drivel. I’d much rather look at my drivel, frankly. I had to order about seven hundred of our shipping boxes – I didn’t have nearly enough here to fill our orders. They should arrive on Tuesday in plenty of time. Right now the plan is to hire a couple of helpers to come on Wednesday and to do all our addressing then, and then put the postage on them on Thursday. That way, should the discs arrive on Friday (slim chance, but they might) we can get them packaged and shipped that very day or Saturday, depending on what time they arrive. And that’s the way it is, and that’s the way it will be. And this is my beloved.

If this is my beloved, then who is that? I always thought that was my beloved, but everyone tells me that this is my beloved, which sort of leaves that out in the cold. What the HELL am I talking about?

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below for this is my beloved and that can just deal with it.

Today, I shall have to get up early and get the long jog over with (time permitting) because at eleven I must be at Mr. Grant Geissman’s home environment to do the vocals on the Nudie Musical songs. Miss Alet Taylor will be joining us after a while, to lay down her songs. And, I have indeed completely rewritten Let ‘Em Eat Cake musically, so I’ll have to record that anew, although it shouldn’t take too long. I like this new music so much better – much more variety, and it will really give our choreographer more to work with. I was never happy with that song in the film, and hopefully no one will miss the other tune once they hear the new one.

After the session, I’ll probably grab a bite to eat, and then I’ll definitely watch a movie or three when I get home. Tomorrow, I have a bunch of errands, and then a quick meeting in the evening with the charity people. I’ve booked their entertainment – Miss Susan Egan, who is thrilled to do it and who will be wonderful. On Tuesday morning, I’m speaking to the first semester students in one of the theater classes at LACC – sort of a Q&A. On Friday, I’m going to judge some musical theater auditioners in Karen Morrow’s AMDA class.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, record vocals, eat, watch movies, and whatnot. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers make with the topic and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do remember that from here on in this is my beloved.
