A HAZE OF A DAZE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I just received some rather startling news – it’s Wednesday. The thing of it is that I need to catch up on my sleep because these days are going by in a haze. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, these days are going by in a haze and hazy days cause me to feel as if I am in a days daze. Or is that a daze days? In any case, it’s Wednesday and I, for one, say wasn’t it just Tuesday? Actually, it is Tuesday, so there you are. And here I am. And there they are. Here we all are. If anyone has a clew as to what the HELL I’m talking about, please don’t mention it because, after all, I am in a haze of a daze these days.

Now THAT was a paragraph.

Now THAT was a sentence.

Now THIS is the rest of the notes. I managed to get a decent night’s sleep and then went off to do a few errands. Then Cason Murphy came over and we went to my favorite barbecue jernt, The Kansas City Barbecue, where I tried something new – the hot link sandwich, which was out of this world. I also had sweet potato fries and a side of baked beans (the best). We discussed our casting needs (we need our two leads, and would like to see more people for Dick Davis and Eunice, and we still need four ensemble men – we’ve cast all the other roles). So, we’re putting out another call, this time to several big theater agents in LA – we’ll see what that brings, and we’ve booked an audition session for Friday. After lunch, I had a few more errands to do, plus I caught up on some CD listening (I’ve been given a whole slew of CDs lately – I have about forty to go through). I did some writing, sent some e-mails, had some telephonic calls, and then decided to head over to Fry’s, because I knew I had to do something about a television. So, I did something about a television, i.e. I bought one. I downsized from my previous Mitsubishi 65-inch DLP (made one year prior to when they finally decided that HDMI inputs were going to be the standard, as well as 1080p). I was looking at a 73-inch Mitsubishi DLP – it looked pretty good, but other sets kept catching my eye, said sets looking brighter and sharper and more beautiful to the eye. What was really astonishing to me was how all these TVs have come down in price. When I bought my Mitsubishi, it was close to $4500. The equivalent to that model is barely over $1500 now. Other nice-sized sets are even cheaper. In any case, one particular Samsung kept me coming back, because I could not believe how gorgeous and bright and sharp the picture was – and the whites and blacks were astonishingly astonishing. There were two I really was entranced with – a 55-inch LCD and a 55-inch LED, the latter having a little more brightness and a little more astonishing picture. I went back and forth, discussed the downsizing with the salesperson, who told me that while I’d have a slightly smaller set, the upgrade in quality would make me forget all about that. So, I decided on the LED for two reasons – it’s much more energy-friendly, and, most importantly, because it was on sale and came with a free Samsung Blu-Ray player, which the LCD did not. So, as of about one o’clock tomorrow, a new 55-inch LED Samsung TV will be delivered to the home environment, with a free Blu-Ray player (I did have to purchase an HDMI cable). I’m hoping that the delivery people will help me move the old TV off its stand and into the garage – if they don’t, I’m not sure what I’ll have them do – probably just set it up in front of the stand and then when my wiring guy comes on Tuesday, he can help me move the other TV. Or, I may call my handyman first thing in the morning and see if he’ll come over and do it before the delivery people get here.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I am in a haze of a daze and cannot properly be pithy.

Today, a new TV will be delivered, and delivery people will unpack and set up, and also hook up the new Blu-Ray player. They won’t be doing any of the wiring work to the receiver – I have someone coming next Tuesday to do that. So, by two o’clock I should be viewing my first Blu-Ray disc (I’ve been using credit to occasionally get some Blu-Rays that I knew I’d want).

Additionally, I have some errands and whatnot to do, a meal to eat (I’ve really been craving Chinese and may just mosey on over to Genghis Cohen to satisfy said craving – or not), and I have a bunch of writing to do – must do yet more liner notes for the next two Kritzerland CDs, which I’m thinking of putting out concurrently, if I feel I can handle that sort of volume – it’s one soundtrack and one show.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora and the Bunny Hop, for today is the birthday of dear reader Pogue’s ever-lovin’ Julieanne. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to dear reader Pogue’s ever-lovin’ Julieanne. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO DEAR READER POGUE’S EVER-LOVIN’ JULIEANNE!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog (a must), do errands and whatnot, have a new TV delivered and set up, write, eat, and then relax and watch – a BLU-RAY disc. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I try to not be in a haze of a daze.
