TWITCHY AND BITCHY AND MANIC

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week has flown by, like a gazelle cleaning a sturgeon. Last I knew it was Monday and now it is Friday and the rest is a blur (rulb, spelled backwards). I must write these here notes in a hurry for I must be up very early for a little breakfast meeting with my pal Gary Stockdale. We’re meeting at Jerry’s Deli at 8:15. So, let me cut right to the chase and say that yesterday was fun, irritating, and fun, not necessarily in that order. I was awakened at three in the morning by the ringing of the telephonic device. It was a call from Maryland and, of course, I didn’t answer. I did fall right back asleep, but was up by nine. I called back the Maryland number and a voice gave me the time, Eastern Standard time, that is. Most irritating. Then, naturally we had to have some long musical drama, for what is a day without long musical drama? It was short-lived and then I went on my merry way to have my hair prettified by the likes of our very own Teddy. I told him all about my book whilst he put some blonde highlights in my hair. This will be the second book this year in which he’s mentioned – in Raquel Welch’s new book, she speaks lovingly of him (I read the passages). I was there for two hours and Teddy and I had fun reminiscing about our forty years of adventures. When he was done with me, my hair looked alive, but alive, but alive, and I felt twitchy and bitchy and manic, not necessarily in that order. I then headed back to the Valley. I was quite hungry by this time, but I had e-mails to answer and a few other things to attend to, after which I took the manuscript and went and had a sandwich and fries and proofed two more chapters – and added a teeny bit to the Teddy mention. I then did a few more errands and whatnot, picked up a small package (but not the one I’ve been waiting for – the one from sunny Spain) and came home. I then spent a bit of time listening to an upcoming project and figuring out a sequence that worked – I hit it on the third try and it’s very good now – and I have to say that the score, which is not used all that well in the film it’s from, will blow people away on the CD. It’s by a composer I’m particularly fond of and who will be making his debut on Kritzerland.

I was not in the mood to watch anything, so instead I took a bunch of trade stuff to Amoeba. I must say, it’s a little dreary there these days. I got a lot of credit, but could only find three things to use it on, so I still have quite a bit of credit left for another day. I then came home, checked out a few transfers, and sped through the movie that contains the score I reference above, just to see how certain things were used. I’ve asked for cue sheets on this title so that I don’t have to name the tracks – if no cue sheets are available then I’ll have to watch the film all the way through and come up with my own titles. Then I did some work on the computer and the evening was at an end.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because my hair is alive, but alive, but alive, and I feel twitchy and bitchy and manic.

Today, as noted, I have an early breakfast meeting (I’ll probably only have a bagel or maybe poached eggs on an English muffin). Then I have to meet one of my proofers to get her copy of the manuscript, which contains her corrections. I’ll spend the rest of the day checking out what her corrections are and then I’ll continue my proofing. When I’m done, I’ll enter both of our corrections into the master document. Then I’ll just be waiting for the other proofer to send me her corrections. I’m sure I’ll have to run a few things by muse Margaret, too. After that, I’ll relax and figure out something fun to eat.

Tomorrow, I have several errands and whatnot to do, and then I may or may not have dinner with a friend. I’m afraid in order for that to happen right now people have to come to me or my neighborhood. Sunday, Cason and I will be addressing boxes and putting postage on them, and then the excitement begins as we have our Annual Oscar Bash right here at haineshisway.com. You will not want to miss the merriment and mirth and laughter and legs.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a breakfast meeting, pick up the manuscript with corrections, proof, and eat. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, various and sundried Kritzerland projects. Blu and Ray, next up will be The Neverending Story, and in the DVD player I’m watching a motion picture entitled Privilege. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I have hair that’s alive, but alive, but alive, and hence I shall feel twitchy and bitchy and manic.
