I’VE GOT NEWS FOR YOU

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I’ve got news for you – it’s the end of June. Isn’t that a fine kettle of fish? The end of June. Where have the first six months of this year gone? I’ll tell you something, they are gone with the gazelle, that’s where they’ve gone. The gazelle has run off with the six months and that’s all there is to that. Next week brings July and fireworks and weenies and barbecue chicken, steak, and ribs, not necessarily in that order. If June was bustin’ out all over, then July will be exploding exponentially. But, it’s still June, so let’s not be jumping the gun. And I’ve got news for you – yesterday was a day and a half, but I sort of liked it. I got up after a reasonable but not quite long enough night of sleep, did some work on the computer, answered e-mails, made the deal for our next release (a surprise, but fun, by a composer I love), got all the art and stuff, and sent that along to the designer. Then I lugged about twelve really heavy and big boxes o’ tapes to the car – these tapes have been sitting in my living room for eight months and have been really annoying me over the last couple of months – I returned them to the vault from whence they came and now my living room looks like a living room, although there are still four boxes of memorabilia that I’d pulled for the book – those will go back into storage today or tomorrow. Then I went over to the Apple Store at noon – still a very long line and a two-hour wait, but I toughed it out, did the exchange, and now I have me a new iPhone 4G. It’s a little different in design and quite nice, and boy is it faster. It has two cameras – one for video chat, the other the regular camera, and also a hi-def video camera. I’m really enjoying it so far, and still learning the new stuff. I plugged it into my computer when I got home and it transferred all the settings and everything from my other phone, so it was up and running instantly. I paired it with the car, but now need to enter all the voice dialing commands again. I did some errands and whatnot, picked up a couple of packages, one from amazon.uk that had the wrong item, so I’ve had to write them to get them to send the correct item, which is really REALLY irritating. It was then time to mosey on over to Woodland Hills for a dinner, which was quite lovely and fun. After that, I came home and caught up with e-mails and such, after which I had to begin these here notes.

The other night, I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled Invasion of the Bee Girls, a really odd low-budget film directed by Denis Sanders, who has some interesting films to his credit, this not being one of them. Also an interesting writer did the screenplay – Nicholas Meyer, who would, of course, go on to be quite famous as a writer/director of several notable films. But this thing is a mess – there’s nudity, there are bee girls, and a whole lot o’ dyin’ goin’ on. It’s a cheesy, cheap, shoddy-looking film, and somehow I quite enjoyed it. It’s on a double bill with some other cheesy, cheap, shoddy-looking film from the early 1960s. If you can get it for the same price I paid, $3.99, I recommend it wholeheartedly. The transfers suit the films and the films suit the transfers.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I’ve got news for you – we simply must or people will look at us askance, oh, yes, people will look at us askance.

Today, I shall be printing out hundreds of postage strips, doing errands and whatnot, and trying to get at least a modicum of relaxation time in.

Tomorrow, I have a friend coming to help me put the hundreds of postage strips on the hundreds of packages – and I’ll see if she can help me come shipping day. Happily, there aren’t many dealer orders going out (only two), so most of it’s just the smaller packages. Still, that’s going to take at least three hours to do and I cannot and will not do it alone, especially if they arrive on Tuesday, as I have to also tape the Skip E. Lowe Show at six that day.

Next week is going to be quite full – prepping our new release and the release that follows it, shipping, taping, meetings, meals, and all that there.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, print out hundreds of postage strips, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up a package or three, and try to get some relaxing in. Today’s topic of discussion: If expense were no problem what would you like to own more than anything else? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and I’ve got news for your – we shall.
