THE TIME-SPACE CONTINUUM

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because I must be up at six in the morning to announce our new title. So, let me just say that yesterday was a day of non-stop doing and going and also going and doing. I did, I went, I went, I did, not necessarily in that order. I got up right at nine, printed out quite a few orders, thanks to Steve Suskin’s generous and kind review of Promises, Promises, and then I finally buckled down Winsocki and wrote the liner notes I needed to write for another label. That took a while, as I had to also watch about half the film, but I got it done. I then had some lunch, and then I proofed the liner notes, made some adjustments, and sent them on their merry way. I then had to listen to and approve our new master, which sounded very good indeed, and then I got the audio samples to the web guy. I also did a two-mile jog, and then in the early evening I did another mile and a half jog. I sat in the Jacuzzi to rest my aching bones, and then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled The Professional. This was not the same Professional that I watched the other night, this was a French film from France starring Jean-Paul Belmondo. As these types of action-adventure films go, this one was a lot of fun, with excellent performances, and a wonderful score by Ennio Morricone. Happily, the transfer is great. I then had a couple of telephonic conversations, after which I watched the season premiere of Mad Men. It was fun to be back with all those characters – again, it seems we’ve made a jump in time from last season, although they never really spell out what year it is. I still love Peggy, Don is still irritating but compelling, Robert Morse is excellent, and it’s still weird seeing Betty with Henry. And I still love and adore Joan. It wasn’t the best Mad Men episode I’ve seen, but it moved right along and got us back into the world. I must say, the AMC picture quality truly stinks. If they have an HD version of the channel, I sure don’t get it via DirecTV.

After Mad Men, I had a telephonic meeting with our very own Mr. Kevin Spirtas – we discussed ideas for the new show we’re putting together, and I made a couple of song suggestions that he liked. He’ll be here in mid-August and we’ll be spending time with a pianist, starting to really structure the show and figure out arrangements.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must be up very early and I have a very long day ahead of me, after which I shall have a very long day behind me, which is, of course, part of the mystery of the time-space continuum. I, on the other hand, shall continuum in the next section.

Today, I shall announce our new title, post about it everywhere, and then hopefully print out lots and lots of orders. Then I have a meeting with a singer. After that, the helper arrives and we have several packages, including a pretty big one to ship out (actually two rather large orders). Then we have to do some stuff regarding publishing, and that will be that. Then I have a meeting with Mr. Barry Pearl, as we discuss our new idea for a celebrity autograph show.

Tomorrow, I have scads of stuff to do, Wednesday I have an important meeting, Thursday I have a radio interview, and I’ll also be writing a lot and sending out an eBlast about my reading at the Burbank Library on August 3. I also have to finish casting our first Gardenia show. I’ve already picked the songs, but that can change depending on who the final three people are. Then I’ve got to go to storage and pull all the piano charts.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce a CD, do a jog, hopefully print out lots of orders, meet with a singer, ship packages, and meet with Mr. Barry Pearl. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the most weight you’ve ever gained and what is the most weight you’ve ever lost? And what did you do to effect the latter? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland and dream about the time-space continuum.
