Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I’m writing these here notes early so I can get to bed and get some sleep before getting up very early in the morning for my very early flight. Please send strongest excellent vibes and xylophones for good weather and an on time, safe and stress-free flight back to LA. I had a very nice yesterday (still today) in New York, New York, the city that never sleeps. I got up at nine, packed some of my stuff, showered, and then went to a Fed Ex store to send home a little package o’ stuff, so I wouldn’t have to stuff the suitcase with stuff since there’s already enough stuff stuffed in there. Then I went to the apartment of composer Peter Link, which doubles as a recording studio. I checked everything out, and had a fun and nice chat with Skip and Peter. Then at noon Miss Rebecca Luker arrived. I hadn’t seen her in quite some time, so it was great to say hey and even more fun to record her two songs, one of which is one of my favorite Skip songs. She did beautifully – we did a few takes of each and we were done. As always with Rebecca, it was fun and effortless and also effortless and fun. Skip plays wonderful piano and never hits a clam, which always amazes me. After the session, Skip and I went to a jernt called Mr. Biggs. Skip had some wings and a few of the onion rings I ordered, and I had a few of the onion rings I ordered (only five or six). Then I moseyed on over to the Brooklyn Diner to meet a friend I hadn’t seen in about eighteen years. We had a great time catching up – she’s still very pretty, and is the single mom of a fourteen-year-old girl. She’s had some interesting experiences over the last years and it was fun reconnecting. She lives in Connecticut now but really wants to move back to LA, which is where I first met her, during a taping of, of all things, Totally Hidden Video – the only actual wraparound taping I ever attended. I had the Diner’s excellent salad with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, and Russian dressing, a small side of mac and cheese and then we shared the coconut cake. After that, I walked the twenty blocks back to the hotel, so even though I didn’t do the treadmill, I did walk two miles, so that’s good.

I had some e-mails to attend to, I booked my wake-up call, and I watched a little TV and finished packing except for just a couple of small items.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must at least get in bed and attempt to get some beauty sleep before I get up very early in the morning.

Today, I shall get up very early in the morning and be on my way to the airport for my very early flight home back to LA. Once home, I shall see what mail has arrived and do a jog, and maybe eat a light lunch, after which I’ll answer e-mails and then sit on my couch like so much fish and watch a motion picture or three whilst falling asleep. I’ll probably post tomorrow’s notes early because I have to be up at six to announce the new title.

Tomorrow, after announcing the new title, I have several errands and whatnot to do, then a three-hour rehearsal for the Gardenia show, which I’m looking forward to. First our ensemble of four young women come to learn their part of two songs, and then our five principals arrive over the next couple of hours to work their solos and duets.

The rest of the week is quite busy with meetings and meals and one more rehearsal on Friday. And, of course, we must prep our next release.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, fly home to LA, jog, eat and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland with your strong and excellent vibes and xylophones for good weather and an on time, safe and stress-free flight home to LA.
