SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have heard a rumor and I just thought I’d pass it along like so much fish – Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, the rumor is that Santa Claus Is Coming To Town so you’d better watch out, you’d better not cry and, most especially, you’d better not pout. To pout is out at Christmas time, especially when Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. And I hate to tell you this, but he knows when you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake. I, for one, am ready for Santa Claus when he arrives in the City of Studio – the chimney flue is open and old St. Nick can just slide down and be clean as a whistle. Actually, is a whistle all that clean? I mean, someone’s MOUTH has been on the whistle so it’s got germs and maybe herpes and I just wouldn’t touch the whistle with a ten-foot Pole or a five-foot Czech or even a three-foot Armenian. What the HELL am I talking about? Oh, yes, Santa Claus and the rumor that he is coming to town. But enough about Santa Claus, let me tell you about my rather wacky day yesterday. Some days are simply wacky, and yesterday was wacky beyond repair. I got up at nine-thirty, rushed to get ready, and was on my way to the tape vaults to return a bunch of tapes we’ve recently used for our releases. Whilst there, Ye Olde Cell Phone rang and it was Mr. Greg Harrison, who was querying me as to where I was, as he and Miss Linda Purl were at my front door. That was odd, I thought, as our rehearsal was for today at ten-thirty. You see, when we’d made that plan, someone apparently said Friday the 18th – I put it in my iCal on the 18th, which wasn’t a Friday but a Saturday. Greg sent out some e-mail with a correction but I guess I didn’t ever adjust my iCal and neither did our musical director. So, I rushed back home and we worked for about ninety minutes, just talking through the song list and then we put the show into a tentative order, which feels pretty good. We won’t know until we sing through everything, but the show might just be two songs too long – if so, we’ve already made the decision as to what two will go – IF they go, then I’ll have to adjust the order slightly. There’s some really fun material and it should be a delightfully delightful show. We talked about patter and what it needs to do, discussed some of the set-ups to the songs, and then Greg left and Linda stayed awhile to send some e-mails from her laptop. Linda and I have been discussing the possibility of doing a new CD next year and we’re just starting to think about what it might be and how we might do it. After that, I went to the mail place, where I picked up one package and no important envelope, which I hope and pray will be here today. Then I came home to wait for the singers to pick up their music and CDs. One of our ensemble gals picked hers up pretty quickly, but then I just sat here like so much fish – the first singer didn’t get here until five, the second at five-thirty, and the third at seven. Alet can’t make it until Sunday, another of the back-up singers is coming this morning, and I never heard from one of the other singers, who said he’d be here but never showed. Juliana was the last one here and we went moseyed on over to the Studio CafĂ© and stuffed ourselves silly. At some point, like today, I really have to get serious about eating lightly for the next five days – and I mean not over 1200 calories a day. I can’t jog when it’s raining, and it rained all day yesterday.

Then we came home from dinner, I cracked Juliana’s back and she said it was an incredible back crack. I’m quite good at doing back cracks, actually. We chatted for a while and then she went on her merry way. By that time, it was too late for me to finish the motion picture on Blu and Ray that I’m watching – Vampire Circus. I’m enjoying it very much – nudity, fangs, and the usual Hammer atmospheric atmosphere. I’ll probably finish it this afternoon.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below, because not only is the rumor that Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, I hear he’s making a list, checking it twice, and gonna find out who’s naughty and nice, not necessarily in that order. In the meantime, I have to get my beauty sleep because she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and I’ve got to ship the stuff that I never got around to shipping yesterday.

Today, I shall ship what I didn’t ship yesterday. I shall print out some early pre pre-orders, I shall do some errands and whatnot, I shall jog if the weather permits, I shall hopefully pick up an important envelope, I shall watch a motion picture or two, and I shall sup.

Tomorrow, I will briefly attend a cocktail partay at the home of our very own Mr. Jason Graae. After that, I’ll eat something light but amusing with a friend, and then watch some motion pictures. Then at six the following morning, we announce the final two Kritzerland releases for 2010. And I think I’ve now decided on the first Kritzerland release of 2011, and it’s a goodie by one of my favorite composers, one that has not appeared on our label before.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the beer-barrel polka for today we’ve got us two count them two birthdays to celebrate. Our first birthday to celebrate is our very own dear reader PennyO. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own dear reader PennyO. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN DEAR READER PENNYO!!!

Our next birthday belongs to our very own dear reader Dan-the-Man. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own dear reader Dan-the-Man. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO ROU VERY OWN DEAR READER DAN-THE-MAN!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship packages, do errands and whatnot, jog (if possible), watch motion pictures, and sup. Today’s topic of discussion: What was the most fun and unusual Christmas vacation you’ve ever had? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do remember that Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
