MY HEAD FEELS THICK

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon. I really wish I could just sleep in but alas I cannot. Perhaps tomorrow morning I can sleep in. My allergies have abated somewhat but I’m still feeling very congested and stuffed up and my head feels thick. I don’t know about you, dear readers, but I do not like when my head feels thick. My Head Feels Thick – that’s the title of my next novel. Soon I will take some Ny-Quil, just to help me sleep through the night. In fact, I’m going to get these here notes posted early so I can get to bed. So, yesterday was a day in which my head felt thick. My throat felt better, so that was nice. The helper came and we went over a few things, did a little shipping, and that was that. Then Juliana stopped by for her music and CD. After that, I went and had some bacon and eggs. Whilst eating, I proofed close to two chapters. Then I picked up no packages and no important envelope, which will hopefully be here today. Then I came home, did some work on the computer, and then Mr. Handy Man came by to fix the sprinkler timer – for some reason, about six days ago instead of coming on twice a week, they began coming on every day. He fixed that and found there were two serious leaks, which he also fixed. That would explain why my DWP bill has been so high the last couple of months and now that it’s fixed those bills will hopefully go down again. Then I finally sat on my couch and relaxed. I began watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray and promptly fell asleep for about forty-five minutes. Then I decided to watch a movie that had just been TIVOd, as I’d never seen it before.

The movie I’d TIVOd and hadn’t seen before was entitled 84 Charing Cross Road, starring Miss Anne Bancroft and Mr. Anthony Hopkins. It’s a simple little film about the real-life long correspondence between a New York lady and aspiring wirter named Helene Hanff and a British book dealer. It’s kind of inert dramatically, but the performances by Miss Bancroft, who is a treasure, and Mr. Hopkins, who is always wonderful, are so enjoyable that you just forgive the film’s slightness. Way back in 1993, I think, I had occasion to dine with Miss Hanff – it was either Thanksgiving or near Christmas when I was in New York recording She Loves Me, the only cast album we did that I didn’t personally produce. The producer of that album invited me to the dinner and Miss Hanff was a quirky and delightful lady.

After the movie, a thoughtful person brought me some chicken soup and rye bread. I ate the soup all up and it was awfully good. Whilst I ate I watched a little of Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing in high definitions. It’s so wonderful to see these Kubrick films finally presented in their proper screen ratios. But I kept dozing off, so I shut the TV off and just played on the computer, took a shower, and felt thick.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because my head feels thick and I must get these here notes posted so I can get some beauty sleep.

Today, I must go do errands and whatnot whilst she of the Evil Eye does her thing, after which I will hopefully pick up a package or three and an important envelope. Then I’m not sure what the rest of the day will hold, but I’m quite certain I will eat something at some point and I’m equally certain that I will watch a motion picture or three.

Tomorrow, I have no plans other than having a meal in the afternoon. Monday will be a really busy day, but I hope to get everything done by three so I can pack and relax and get to bed early for my early flight. Then we’ll put up the Linda and Gregory show and I’ll fly right back home, just in time to ship out twenty-five boxes of CDs on Friday. I gotta tell you, this month is flying by, like a gazelle with a thick head. We’re almost halfway done with February.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up a few packages and an important envelope, eat, and relax and get better. Today’s topic of discussion: We’ve done it before, but I always enjoy it so much – what were your favorite book stores when you were growing up and then when you were an adult – you know, the kinds of stores they don’t have anymore. Tell us all about your favorites and the adventures you had within. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland and hopefully awaken with a head less thick.
