REVENGE OF THE NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I did not buckle down, Winsocki and do any of the writing that I need to do – I just couldn’t get with the program. I did do a lot of other things but getting with the program was not one of them. I simply did not get with the program and that’s all there is to it. What I did do was get about 1300 CDs shipped, along with quite a few Blu and Rays. I did that. That program I got with. I did errands and whatnot and banking and I picked up a few packages. I did that. That program I got with. I had a few visits from visitors, I printed out a bunch of contracts, and I had quite a few telephonic conversations. I did that. That program I got with. But I could not get with the writing program – I just couldn’t and there was nothing to be done about it. And then, even if I’d wanted to, it was too late, as I had only ninety minutes left of the day before I’d be joining my friend Barbara Deutsch for dinner and seeing our pal Kevin Spirtas in a staged reading of a play. So, instead, I used that ninety minutes to sit on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I finished watching the third of the Star Wars prequels, Revenge Of The Sith. As you now know, I simply do not have the problems that many have with the first two prequel films – I think they look and sound great, and while they do have their shortcomings, I enjoyed them anyway. Now, somehow, I’d not seen Revenge Of The Sith – which is odd. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it – as I’ve said, I’ve never been a Star Wars FANatic but I found Revenge Of The Sith every bit as good as The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi (well, it’s better than Return Of The Jedi) – it’s got terrific action scenes, the drama is compelling, and watching Anakin Skywalker’s descent to the Dark Side was excellently done. No, the fellow who plays the role isn’t the greatest actor in the world, but these films were never about the acting, so why people were so up in arms about it is anyone’s guess. I mean, no disrespect meant to Carrie Fisher, but did these complainers miss her performance in the original trilogy? No, as I’ve said over the last couple of days, it was a lose/lose situation for Mr. Lucas with fans of the originals. They hated the films long before they entered the theater – that hatred began on the Internet and continued there throughout the release of all three films. And I posit had there been an Internet for the first three films, they would not be the rosy thing that everyone remembers, because there would have been endless bitching and moaning about them by smart-ASSES sitting at their computers thinking that they know more and are better than everyone and everything. As much as I enjoy aspects of the Internet, it was better without it in certain ways – especially for movies and theater. Revenge Of The Sith looks and sounds great on Blu and Ray, but I thought all three of the prequels looked and sounded great and were very much of a piece. Now it’s on to the original trilogy – it’s fun watching them in this order, I must say.

I then had a lovelier than lovely dinner with Miss Barbara Deutsch. We caught up, had a lot of laughs, and ate good food. Then we saw a benefit staged reading of Terrence Mc Nally’s recent play, Some Men. I’m a fan of Mr. McNally’s and I thought this piece was quite good. It’s not a great play, but the vignettes are interesting, and there’s a lot of really good dialogue, much of which is truly funny. The actors all did a good job and it would have been nice if the producers of this thing had actually had their names listed somewhere – not a name to be found anywhere. Very, very BAD, producers. These actors gave you their time and they deserve a little credit. Of course, I knew Kevin, and I also knew David Pevsner and Maxwell Caulfield, but the other actors I had no idea about. After the play I came directly home.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because this section is merely the prequel to the next section, Revenge Of The Notes.

Today, I must buckle down, Winsocki and do a lot of typing. I may experiment and see if I can figure out how to cut and paste into this template I’m using for this script – that would make things ever so much easier. We shall see. I have a lunch at Mo’s with some friends, and then in the late afternoon I have to meet the cameraman at the place from whence our camera and equipment is coming from – he can’t fit it all in his car. I also will do the four-mile jog, hopefully pick up some packages, and do errands and whatnot.

Tomorrow is the first of our two days of shooting. We’re doing the set-up scenes to the Alet and Andy Taylor and Gregory Harrison episodes. We should wrap by three, maybe before. Then I’ll have to do the four-mile jog, after which I have a short casting session at LACC. Friday is our second day of shooting and a fairly long day, shooting musical numbers for all three episodes. Then I have to go directly to Barry Pearl’s and on to see Annie’s opening night at Cabrillo Music Theater.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the four-mile jog, type, lunch, hopefully pick up packages, and pick up camera equipment. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we bring to completion the Revenge Of The Notes.
