MY TEETH ACHE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, as Sheldon Harnick once wrote, “My teeth ache” and boy do they. Well, I’m not sure what it is exactly, but this morning I shall be going to Dr. Chew to find out. Therefore, please send lots o’ excellent vibes and xylophones that whatever is going on is MINOR. It started one night ago – my gold crown on the lower left became very sensitive and then very painful when I chewed on that side. It was just out of nowhere really. But there are a couple of other tooth issues, too, one involving a gold crown on the upper left, and one involving a tooth on the lower right – that one had a filling replaced on my last visit, and I’m wondering if it somehow came out or something. Anyway, the most important thing to attend to is the lower left gold crown – that one has to get fixed very quickly, as it’s really hard to eat anything but mush right now. Has anyone noticed that today’s notes seem to be about teeth? Just asking.

I had an interesting day yesterday. For example, I got up. That was interesting. I then did some work on the computer, and then heard part one of the Sondheim two CD set’s master. Because we did these three albums so quickly I had no memory of it at all, and I was heartened by how good it sounded, because believe you me, it did not sound good when we began mixing. But we were careful and did what needed to be done, and now it sounds better than it has any right to. Yes, there are a couple of sour band notes we couldn’t get out (we fixed MANY sour band notes), and one tiny mic problem that comes and goes very quickly, otherwise I’m very happy with it.

I then had a quick bite to eat – matzo brei and a waffle – soft enough not to cause pain. Then I picked up one little package.

Then the helper came by and we did our Costco run, then ended up at Home Depot to get a couple of things. I’ve now got a LOT of bottled waters and a LOT of Diet Coke. I also bought a big thing of spinach salad with eggs, cheese, CRANBERRIES, onions, bacon, and a poppy seed dressing – it looked good and I knew I’d need a little snack later in the evening. After that, I listened to part two of the Sondheim, then signed off on it. I downloaded the Bacharach one CD master, but had to mosey on over to a house not too far from here to attend the reading of a play with songs or songs with play. The authoress, who was also reading the leading role, which is basically her – it’s an autobiographical piece about her ups and downs – is someone I’ve known for some years. She’s also a good singer. The rest of the small cast were folks I knew. The authoress wrote the book and lyrics and the composer was someone I’d never heard of. It was, I believe, the first reading of it, so I’m not going to talk about it – I’m sure they’ll work on it and futz with it, as they should. There were some interesting folks in attendance, so I had some nice conversations. The reading lasted about 100 minutes, and then I hung out for about twenty minutes before heading home.

When I returned, I had some of the spinach salad and I must say it was quite good. Then I listened to the Bacharach show and signed off on that, although one track had not uploaded properly so the engineer had to resend that – I haven’t heard that track yet, but it should be fine once it’s put in its proper place. So, I’m hoping I’ll hear the Andrew Lloyd Webber two CD master tonight or Thursday morning – it really can’t go out later than Thursday if we’re going to meet our timeline.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get some beauty sleep, as I’ll be up early and on my way to Dr. Chew.

Today, I shall be seeing Dr. Chew at ten. I have no idea how long that will take. After that, I think our very own Mr. Nick Redman will be stopping by for a brief visit, then I must write and finish liner notes, I must listen to the Lloyd Webber master, I must hopefully pick up some packages, and I must relax.

Tomorrow, it’s more of the same and the a long drive to the Rubicon Theatre to see a new musical, and then Friday is a Melody rehearsal, as is Saturday. Saturday night is the opening night of Forbidden Broadway at Musical Theatre West, so I’m looking forward to seeing that, and then I may have to see a show on Sunday. When I’m supposed to breathe is anyone’s guess.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, see Dr. Chew, I must hopefully have a brief visit with Mr. Nick Redman, I must eat something light but amusing, I must write liner notes, I must hopefully pick up some packages, listen to a master, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, and then gird my loins to see Dr. Chew. Don’t forget to send lots of excellent vibes and xylophones for whatever problems there may be to be MINOR.
