BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is good to be back in the City of Studio, it is good to have had ten hours of beauty sleep, and it is good to be back in the swing of things. The ten hours of sleep was really helpful – in fact, I was asleep before my head hit the pillow and it was so nice of the pillow not to retaliate and hit my head. As I write these here notes I am quite in the zone having just listened to some of the most deliriously romantic music ever written for any film – it’s an upcoming Kritzerland release of a Golden Age score. It has put me in the zone, which is nice after having been in the swing of things. I like to go directly from the swing of things to the zone. Sometimes I like to go directly from the zone to the swing of things. I’m sure this was going somewhere, but wherever it was going is now lost in the windmills of my mind.

Yesterday, I had quite a productive and nice day. I got up after my ten glorious hours of sleep, answered e-mails, had some telephonic calls, then the helper came by and picked up some invoices. Then I wrote the blurb for the second edition of Follies, which will be announced at the same time as these here notes are posted. Then I moseyed on over to the West of Wood for a lovelier than lovely lunch meeting. While it could conceivably never happen or take a year or two, this is about a project I would love to make work and the two people I met with are just as excited by the idea as I am. We shall see what happens over the next few months. We were at some jernt called Palomino and the food was very good. I had a small pasta dish that was yummilicious and couldn’t be more than about four ounces of anything. I also had a small Caesar. After the meeting, which lasted about ninety minutes, I headed back to the San Fernando Valley, where I picked up some mail and surprisingly the Fed Ex box I sent from New York the day before – I sent it three-day and it arrived in one – pretty good. Then I did some banking, then came home.

I began writing the contextual commentary and got halfway through that. Then I had to listen to some Kritzerland projects, and then I took a little break and watched half a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled The Legend of Hell House. I never saw it back in the day, and despite owning the DVD I never actually watched anything but the main title. It’s a very 70s film, but I’m kind of enjoying it for what it is – a little chiller about a haunted house. I do love watching Clive Revill, and I adore Pamela Franklin. I also like the director, John Hough. I’ll write more when I’ve finished it.

After that, I finished the contextual commentary, so it’s great that that’s out of the way and only needs to be finessed now. After that, it was more music, answering more e-mails, prepping the Follies eBlast, and taking a nice hot shower. I must say, the evenings have cooled off considerably and that is very pleasurable.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must try and get another great night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall continue to be back in the swing of things. I shall hopefully print out a LOT of Follies orders, I shall do errands and whatnot, eat, hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope, prep Monday’s new release announcement, maybe have a meeting, and then I’ll mosey on over to the recording studio and we’ll do the first final vocal session with the East Coast Singer.

Tomorrow, we do the second final vocal session with the East Coast Singer, and afterwards we’ll probably go eat something. I’ll see if she wants to tag along to the Nuart at midnight to see whatever the pre-show Nudie Musical thing is. Sunday I can relax a little, then have to see some play directed by Barbara Bain. I know nothing about it. Next week will be busy, but I’m hoping to take one complete day off – I really need to do that before we begin our rehearsal week for the Kritzerland anniversary show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, print out orders, do errands and whatnot, eat, hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope, prep an announcement, maybe have a meeting, and do a vocal session. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, all Kritzerland, all the time. Blu and Ray – The Legend of Hell House. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be back in the swing of things.
