WELCOME 2013!

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, can we just give a warm and wonderful welcome to 2013, as well as January? Yes, WELCOME 2013!!! And before I write another word can I just say that it is my fervent hope and prayer that 2013 and January will be a year and month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. When I was growing up, 2013 was the stuff of science fiction. And yet, here we are and it’s neither science or fiction – it’s real, it’s happening and hopefully it will be a most wonderful year for one and all and also all and one.

I spent the final day of 2012 relaxing and eating the rest of the tuna pasta salad. Then at three-thirty I moseyed on over to the El Portal Theater to see a little concoction entitled Christmas My Way, kind of a Sinatra Christmas revue whose point pretty much escaped me. But you know what – with Luca Ellis, Jason Graae, Heather Lee, and Beth Malone, it really doesn’t matter what the show is because they are all incredibly talented and it’s simply impossible not to be charmed by them. The show itself is another matter – I just didn’t find it well put-together, frankly or Frankly, since it’s a Sinatra thing. There were some pretty bad jokes, which the cast did their best with, but it wasn’t really about that and they should have just cut all that stuff and let the company just sing. Jason was his usual wonderful self, and Heather Lee is just someone I adore. Beth Malone was underused and was great anyway, and Luca Ellis is a Sinatra type and sings like – Sinatra and does that very well indeed. It all went by quickly and the set was pretty. After the show, I paid my respects to all, and also hung out with a few people I know, like agent David Ankrum (we both played Adam in Tabitha – he in the series and me in the original pilot), actress Misty Cotton, our Kritzerland host Michael Sterling, Adryan Russ and her ever-lovin’ Dale, singer Pat Whiteman, and a few others I’m not remembering at the moment.

Then I came right home to attend our annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve partay right here at haineshisway.com. And what a partay it was – well over six hundred postings and crazy doings and goings on and so much fun – an evening filled with the best people and a ton of merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. Also, the busy night made us have our largest posting month since February of 2011. In fact, since I’ve begun these here notes a little early, it’s still going strong. An hour before midnight, I did my annual contemplation thing, where I think about the past year and things that I want to do better in the coming year – things I want to improve and fix in myself, and just how I can be a better human being and what I’d like to accomplish for the year and what my prayers and hopes are for the year in terms of my stuff.

After the contemplation thing, I returned to our partay and waited for the West Coast balls to drop. Then I had my usual one tiny sip of champagne and toasted in the New Year, 2013. What a fun night and I couldn’t have had a better time anywhere, frankly or even georgely. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall get up and begin a new book. I’ve got my notes, I know what the opening is and I cannot wait to start. If the weather is not too cold I’ll jog, and then at two I’ll mosey on over to Barry Pearl and Cindy Dellinger’s house for their New Year’s Day Do. The food is always great there, but I shall not overeat for I shall lose twenty damn pound and in order to do that I cannot overeat for the next few months. After that, I’ll come home and probably write some more, and then relax and watch a motion picture on Blu and Ray.

Tomorrow is our first Kritzerland rehearsal, beginning at one-thirty and going to about four-thirty or so. We have all our singers except one and he comes the next day for his first rehearsal. Hal Linden will be rehearsing tomorrow, too. I’m really looking forward to it. Thursday is just the one singer, and, of course, every day is writing. Then Friday is our second rehearsal, Saturday is our stumble-through, Sunday is sound and video check and then show. So, it should be a nice, busy first week of January, plus I’ll be prepping our first two releases for January and also starting to plan the February Kritzerland show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, begin a new book, I must maybe jog, I must go to a Do, I must write some more, and then I must relax. Today’s topic of discussion: How will you be spending your first day of 2013? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland with my fervent hope and prayer that 2013 and January will be a year and month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. WELCOME 2013!!!
