THE DAY I DIDN’T REMEMBER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because I must be up at six in the morning to announce our new Kritzerland title.  We’re very pleased to bring back into print my 2003 production, Jeepers Creepers – Great Songs from Horror Films.  It’s a really fun compendium of tuneful ditties from such films as Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte, Circus of Horrors, Who Killed Teddy Bear?, Mothra, What’s the Matter With Helen?, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, The Blob, and others, sung by a glittering array of musical theatre talent, including Brent Barrett, Judy Kaye, Jason Graae, Katherine Helmond, Remy Zaken, Alison Fraser, Rebecca Luker, Tami Tappan-Damiano and more.  We’ve given it a fresh remastering and a brand new cover.  Here it is.

Isn’t that scarrrry?  The CD was originally released in 2003 and even though Kritzerland hadn’t officially begun as a label, it was the first CD to carry the Kritzerland logo, as it was a co-production.  We are happy to have it back home on Kritzerland.

Yesterday, I suppose, was a nice day, at least what I can remember of it.  I do know I got up around eight-thirty or thereabouts.  I did my morning ablutions, answered e-mails, had telephonic calls, and then I went and printed out four copies of the manuscript.  While those were being done, I went and had a meatless Cobb salad, but this time with ranch dressing – not as good as my usual 1000 Island dressing.  I also had some tap tap tapioca pudding for dessert and yes I’m still obsessed with it.  Whilst dining I ran into director Stuart Cooper (Overlord) and we had a nice chat.   Then I picked up the four copies, took one and left it for Muse Margaret, picked up one package and then came home.

I have absolutely no memory of the rest of the afternoon.  I know I did stuff, and I did write one additional sentence for the book, but who knows?  At five-thirty we auditioned our potential Abner Yokum, and he was very good, so we’re going to offer it to him.  Hopefully his schedule will work with ours.  I do have to replace our musical director, which is kind of irksome but stuff happens and we do what we must and hopefully we’ll find someone fun.  After that, I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I finished watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled The Titfield Thunderbolt, an Ealing Studios comedy, starring John Gregson, Stanley Holloway, Hugh Griffith and others.  It’s a light entertainment with a certain amount of whimsy and charm and it’s short – I enjoyed it very much.  Transfer is okay – color is pretty decent.

After that, it was more telephonic calls, prepping the new release announcement and that was about it.

Today, I shall be up at six to announce Jeepers Creepers, then I’ll go back to sleep.  I’ll get up when I get up, I’ll eat, hopefully pick up some packages, finish choosing songs for the Kritzerland show (I’m two-thirds there), then I’ll gather the music.  So far our cast is comprised of Jean Louisa Kelly, Robert Yacko, Jenna Lea Rosen and we’re waiting to hear on our other gal and we need our other guy.  Sami Staitman will also be appearing.  Other than that, I’ll just relax.

Tomorrow, I’m lunching with Terri White and her ever-lovin’ Donna.  Hoping to get proofed copies back that day or the next.  The rest of the week is meetings and meals and writing liner notes and seeing the Thursday night performance of our show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce our new title, hopefully print out a LOT of orders, eat, hopefully pick up some packages, choose songs, get sheet music and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: What fashion trend do you wish would come back?  And what fashion trend do you wish would go away forever?  You know my answer to the latter, but I’ll just state it again real loud: THONGS.  Your turn.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I shall have a day I hopefully remember.
