I DON’T KNOW NOTHIN’ ‘BOUT BIRTHIN’ BABIES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I don’t know nothin’ about birthin’ babies.  Where did THAT come from?  What am I, Butterfly McQueen all of a sudden?  What am I, Prissy all of a sudden?  Aren’t I usually Pissy all of a sudden?  It’s always fascinating what comes into the windmills of my mind completely unprovoked and that is what has happened here.  Suddenly, out of nowhere, I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout birthin’ babies popped into my consciousness like a gazelle in a halter-top.  Actually, I know a minute bit about birthin’ babies since I was, once upon a time, married to a woman who had one, namely my very own darling daughter.  It was before it was hip for the husband to be in the room at the birthin’ time, so I missed that part, but I was there when the ex-wife’s water broke and that was fascinating.  Actually, it’s fascinating that I just wrote that watching someone’s water break was fascinating.  What the HELL am I talking about.  Don’t I have notes to write?  I do and I shall, not necessarily in that order and I shall not be birthin’ babies whilst writing them.

Yesterday was a day in which I birthed no babies.  I had one of “those” nights where I could not fall asleep.  I actually got up at three and did some work on the computer then went back to bed and fell asleep around four.  I slept till eight-thirty, then till eleven-thirty, so overall I think I got about six hours.  Once up, I answered a few e-mails then went and got a cup of soup to tide me over until dinner.  I picked up one little package and then came home.  Once home, I buckled down, Winsocki and wrote my section of the liner notes and got that off to our designer.  Then I finished writing a song I’ve been working on.  As I mentioned in a post yesterday but won’t elaborate on here, I’m working on a project and this is for that project, but we’re also going to open our January Kritzerland show with it, now that it’s finally finished.  I’m very pleased with it.  Between the liner notes and that took up most of the day but at least it’s all done.  One of our young men dropped out of the January show, so we’re trying to replace him now.  If we can’t, I’ll just use another young gal.

Then I moseyed on over to The Smoke House.  At this time of year they have a lot of big parties, which is kind of annoying for us regulars.  I decided on the small bites approach again – a shrimp cocktail, an artichoke and a wedge with 1000-Island dressing, all excellent.  I had four pieces of garlic cheese bread, but they’re thin and cut small.  For dessert I had berries.  My friend and I caught up and had fun conversation.

Then I came home and listened to the final master for our soundtrack release, which sounds great.

Today, I shall be up by nine-thirty, then the helper comes and we’ll do our Christmas Eve Do Costco run.  I actually have most of what I need – we just need one thing of plastic forks and one more thing of plates, just to be on the safe side, otherwise I have plenty of cups, napkins, plates and plastic cutlery left over from last year.  We’ll get some more waters and sodas and that’s really about it.  Then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll have a brief visit from a local CD dealer, and then I’ll mosey on over to Barry Pearl’s and we’ll sup and then see his show.

Tomorrow I relax and then see a local production of Putting It Together.  Sunday I relax and then I’m supping with a friend I haven’t seen in over a decade.  We announce our new title on Monday and that’s it for work this year.  We’ll have our Christmas Eve Do, I’ll hopefully see the darling daughter on Christmas Day, and then, as always, I attending Cissy Wechter’s Christmas Day party.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a Costco run, hopefully pick up some packages, sup and see a show.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday AGAIN – so, what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player?  I’ll start – CD, Into the Woods.  Blu and Ray, Judgment at Nuremburg and then I may try to endure Broken.  Your turn.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall reiterate once and for all that I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout birthin’ babies.
