AT LONG LAST SHORT NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, today we shall have shorter notes than the novels I’ve been writing for the past week as we went through the fourteen Day Runners. It was fun, though. But now we’re back to just plain old notes for a while, although I have a couple of ideas for the longer variety that I may do in the next couple of weeks. Oh, I could write some long notes right now, say a history of handball in America, but why bother when I can write some nice, short notes.

Yesterday was a nice, short day. I got about eight hours of sleep, answered e-mails, had a brief visit from a brief visitor, then went and had a Chinese chicken salad and a bagel, after which I picked up a package. Then I came home and did some work on the LA show, I made a show order, I had several really long telephonic conversations, did some work at the piano, and finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a documentary from last year entitled The Hunting Ground, another one about college rape. It’s very well done and very powerful and just gives me even more reason to hate many of the young idiot who populate these schools, seemingly attending at great expense to their parents so they can join fraternities and get drunk and be stupid or even just be drunk and stupid without joining a fraternity. The small percentage of people who do these heinous things are reprehensible little cretins who are seemingly never punished for their deeds. It is truly nauseating to hear how these hallowed and esteemed universities virtually ignore and push aside the victims in favor of the attackers. They don’t want those statistics and will do anything to not have what is happening sully their reputations. Well, they’re sullied, baby, and shame on all of them. You will shout at your screen should you watch this (it’s on Netflix), you will be outraged, and you will wonder why they just don’t name these morons who do this. Oh, but then the poor little babies might have their lives ruined – you know, just like they’ve ruined the lives of the people they’ve raped.

After that, I went to Gelson’s and got a little thing of mac-and-cheese and some avocado roll and that was my evening snack. Then I began writing the commentary and got about halfway through, so that was good. I should be able to finish up today or tonight and get that off my plate.

Today, I have a work session for the Kritzerland show, then I have to mosey on over to LACC to meet our sound designer and do a walk-through of the theater with him, so he can see what they have and what they don’t have. After that, I’ll come back to the Valley and eat something light, then I have a phone interview about The First Nudie Musical – that will probably take under an hour, and then I can relax, and then finish the commentary.

Tomorrow and the weekend I have many errands and whatnot to do, and I’ll of course do more work on the LA show – I have a few intros to songs to write, things that will help the songs have some context – some need that and some don’t. I’m hoping it will especially help one song that I’m on the verge of cutting – I like the song, but it really does need some context. The author of it gave me some ideas and I’ll work them into something. The books should be here tomorrow and we’re shipping Sun Valley Serenade, too.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a work session, meet the sound designer, eat, do a phone interview, write, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What injustices get you the angriest? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had at long last short notes.
