A SUCCESSFUL JOURNEY TO THE MIRACLE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we are inching ever closer to a miracle, so bigger/better is the ticket. Your most excellent vibes and xylophones were most helpful and so keep them strong. Now, I could try this right now, but I think I might be more comfortable doing it when I get up so I can be on the phone with someone when doing it, as I have occasionally in the past. It’s not really necessary, so we’ll see if I just go for it even before I finish these here notes. Oh, well, I just did it and it was a nice miracle – not as big as I’d have liked but a miracle nonetheless, and it removes a lot of stress, so thanks to everyone for helping make it happen. In other news, without going into detail, I was contacted a few weeks ago by a nice fellow who inquired about licensing my movies for theatrical showings and streaming and I’ve made the deal for that, so as soon as we sign on the dotted line, I’ll begin delivering what they need and they’re paying a nice little advance, so that will also be helpful. So, all’s well that ends well and the respite will be lovelier than lovely. The next miracle we’ll need is to replace the motor car and that will probably have to happen soon, although the good news was it worked fine yesterday – started right up and was fine for the little I drove it. And now, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to Joe Hisaishi’s lovely score to Miyazaki’s Porco Rosso. I also watched about thirty minutes of Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky, which is one of his films before Kiki’s Delivery Service. Interestingly, Kiki’s was Studio Ghibli’s biggest hit up to that point – the films that came before did okay but weren’t big hits. Hisaishi’s music is just wonderful and is a huge part of making these movies so special. I went in the garage yesterday and pulled out all the soundtracks and am getting the into iTunes in the convoluted way I now have to do that, which is convoluted.

Yesterday was a very nice day all around and, of course, the evening ended with a nice miracle. I got eight hours of sleep, got up, saw that the wheels were still in motion, had a telephonic call about it, did some work on the computer, and then went to my lunch meeting at Stanley’s. I had the Chinese chicken salad, which was excellent. The meeting was fun, and a good time was had by all.

Then I came right home, and thirty minutes later Cindy Williams arrived. I’d just was finishing up a call with AAA. As you may remember, I cancelled my membership on November 3 and my refund never showed up. The woman saw I’d cancelled, then told me the membership had been reinstated on November 9. I asked by whom. She had no answer. I told her to cancel it for good and that the refund better come right away and that I better never hear of them reinstating anything that had to do with me ever again without my actually asking for it. The noive.

Then Cindy and I chatted for a while, then buckled down, Winsocki and set a key for her song, went through it, timed the dialogue sections so that Richard Allen could then vamp that amount of time before going back into the song. Cindy can then work with the track and if she needs more or less time in those sections it’s very simple to adjust to suit her needs. I did one other little musical thing for her, so Richard will do that, too. Then we went over to Art’s Deli and she had a pastrami sandwich and matzoh ball soup, and I had a turkey sandwich and split a few fries with her. I wasn’t really that hungry, so I only ate half the sandwich and brought the rest home and ate it a few hours later. Anyway, we had fun and I’m looking forward to seeing her show in January.

Once back home, I caught up on e-mails and such, watched the bit of Castle in the Sky, got the news that the wheels had arrived at the miracle, began writing these here notes and decided to just forge ahead, as the outcome would be the same whether I did it then or in the morning. Having someone on the phone really wasn’t necessary. And that brings us up to date.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll choose the last couple of songs for the holiday show and get all that music on its way, then I’ll mosey on over the hill for a lunch, then come right back to the Valley, hopefully pick up some packages, do some writing, and then watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is more of the same – can’t remember if there’s a meal or not, but I’m hoping not so I can just eat light and then just do some writing. Saturday, I’m seeing a matinee of a youth theater production of Fiddler on the Roof, and then I’ll eat after. Sunday will absolutely be a ME day from start to finish.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, do whatever needs doing, choose the last couple of songs, have a lunch, hopefully pick up some packages, do some writing, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite Jewish deli foods and meals? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a successful conclusion to the miracle.
