THE DAY OF THE MAJOR MIRACLE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had parts one and two of the major miracle yesterday, so thanks for all the most excellent vibes and xylophones. So, just send some more of those for the morning to go smoothly and then the major miracle will have happened fully and I’ll be able to tell you all about it in vivid detail. Other than that, I am sitting here like so much fish, not listening to music, and having watched two count them two documentaries of the Flix of Net. The first documentary was entitled The Tinder Swindler and was really excellent, if infuriating, especially the ending when it’s revealed what has happened to the butt cheek who is the focus of the documentary, a fraudster who took a lot of Tinder gals for a ride and bilked them out of a lot of money. It’s long at two hours but the storytelling is really well done, and I liked it quite a bit. The second documentary was truly frightening, worse than many horror films – it was entitled The Social Dilemma, and once you see it you will or should seriously think about deleting all social media and never looking at your devices again. I actually have never understood the people who literally would die if their phones were taken from them, who look at them 24/7, who keep them by their beds so they get their “alerts”, who are as addicted to that device as an addict is to heroin. Thankfully, I have never done that. I rarely check the phone, I rarely use the cell phone at all, I rarely text, I don’t give a crap about Instagram or Twitter, and Facebook is addictive, but I would guess I use it less than most. But what this documentary lays out in crystal clear fashion, is just how dangerous it all is, thanks to the people who only have profit at heart. The stories here are horrific and everyone should watch it.

Yesterday was an interesting day, I suppose. I got about seven hours of sleep, got up, read e-mails and got the news that part one of the major miracles had happened. I didn’t hear about part two until late in the afternoon, but that news was very welcome, too. After doing a few things on the computer, I then did something I’ve been trying to do for over a year – I went into the garage, where things have been piling up in the center and where I could not even walk or get to things easily. I opened the garage door and got every single thing out of the center of the garage and in a place where I could still find whatever I needed to find. I could, if I felt like it, now park the motor car in there, which is a first. That actually went rather quickly – it took a little over an hour, which was amazing.

Then I went and picked up a package and the replacement for the important envelope that had not arrived, plus some SAG screeners, all of which I already had from the DGA. Then I went to In-N-Out and got two cheeseburgers to go. By the time I got them home, they were tepid and not all that good. Then we had a Zoom production meeting that was productive and on Zoom. After that, I sat on my couch like so much fish, renewed my Netflix and watched the two documentaries. I ordered a little thing of teriyaki chicken for my evening snack and it was very good.

Throughout the evening, I had several telephonic conversations. I believe we now only have three people left to cast, so we’re closer. And the rest you know. I do hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day.

Today, I’ll be up by nine-thirty at the latest, I’ll do whatever needs doing, then I have some banking to do, then hopefully the end result of the major miracles will happen smoothly, so do send those excellent vibes and xylophones in the morning, then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll eat, I’ll do stuff on the computer, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more of the same – trying to complete casting, another Zoom production meeting on Thursday, and then getting ready for the start of rehearsals. Can’t believe we’re beginning that already.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by nine-thirty at the latest, do whatever needs doing, do some banking, hopefully have the final part of the major miracles run smoothly, hopefully pick up packages, eat, do some work on the computer, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: How addicted are you to various devices and social media platforms and do you think you could function without them? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have parts one and two of the major miracle happen and hoping that the end result of that goes smoothly this very morning.
