Well, dear readers, due to some really odd timing on Indiegogo, it seems that one hour after I post these here notes, THEN we’ll have twenty-four hours until the end of the campaign, meaning at one in the morning tonight. I will never understand this, frankly, and it happens on every campaign. On Tuesday morning, I got an e-mail from Indiegogo saying we were down to our final seventy-two hours. Clearly, that wasn’t the case. And wouldn’t you suppose that a campaign would end at the same time it began, rather than a full thirteen and a half hours later? It is an enigma for sure but let us not dwell on that because it is what it is. We won’t have the usual last-minute action we have if it ends at a reasonable hour, although I’ve certainly been surprised before. But we have breaking news and bombshell reporting: 131%!!! Yes, we went up a nice five percent yesterday, finally getting over $26,000. Not that we get that amount because as we go up so do the fees and amount they withhold, but it’s great that we’ve come this far and I’m hoping with a lot of hope that we go further and further, to infinity and beyond. We did put up just a few new perky perks yesterday, and I think most of them got snapped up pretty quickly. We also put up a SECRET perky perk, a HIDDEN perky perk, and to see it you had/have to have a SECRET HIDDEN perky linky link, which quite a few people asked for. It does involve my close personal friend, Mr. Stephen Sondheim. I really don’t think anyone will grab it, but after much thought, I decided to put it up anyway at a not unreasonable price, given what it is and how much stuff it involves. But wouldn’t that be something if someone did grab it? Well, we can dream a little dream, can’t we and we know that sometimes impossible dreams do come true. So, here we are, and if any of you dear lurkers out there in the dark have been waiting until the last minute, now would be a most excellent time to see if any of our perkilicious perks winks at you. And once again, if something DOES wink at you but is a bit too much for you to handle, simply private message me and I’ll be something can be worked out to your liking, as has happened several times already in this here campaign. Anyway, we’ve done wonderfully well and that’s all because you people are AMAZING. Let’s close out our campaign in high style, with surprises taking us to infinity and beyond, to great glory and a parade in town with seventy-six trombones leading the big parade. What a ride it’s been! I probably won’t post tomorrow’s notes until we close the campaign. Below you will find, for the last time in this campaign, our handy-dandy linkilicious link.
I tried really hard to find something to watch last night. I didn’t realize that at some point I’d bought a couple of films on Amazon because we’d issued the soundtracks and I wanted to watch them as reference – just bits and pieces. One of those was the film of Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker. So, I watched most of that. I must say, it’s really laugh out loud funny and you couldn’t ask for a better company of players. The two Shirleys – Booth and MacLaine – are delightful and endearing, Barnaby and Cornelius embodied by Anthony Perkins and Robert Morse couldn’t be better, and I cannot imagine a better or funnier Horace Vandegelder EVER than Paul Ford, certainly one of the funniest and greatest character actors who ever lived. It certainly didn’t hurt to have John Michael Hayes adapting the play – he wrote Rear Window and To Catch a Thief for Hitchcock, and many other terrific films have his screenplays. And it’s fun to see what was kept verbatim for Hello, Dolly!
Yesterday was a fun day. I got up at eleven-thirty after six hours of sleep, maybe a bit less. Once up, I saw we’d had almost no action at all, I answered e-mails, and then, out of the blue, we had some good action and went to 128% and then to 129%. That kept on steadily until I put up the few new perks, and as those got grabbed, we went up to 131%. Also, flights were booked for the New York trip. I’ll have more details about that after the campaign closes, when I can finally reveal just a tiny bit about the new web series.
For food, I had that tiny Marco’s pepperoni pizza – it’s always very good, but this one was the best and I gobbled the damn thing down in record time. That was it for food, save for a few cashews during the evening hours. The rest you know.
Today, I’ll be up by eleven, possibly earlier, and then I’ll be cheerleading the entire day and evening as we bring this puppy home. I may put up a couple of last-minute surprise perky perks, too, just to keep the energy up. I’ll eat something light but fun at some point, perhaps even some pasta of my own making, with butter and cheese. I have bow tie pasta and spaghetti here, so it would be pretty easy to rustle up. I’ll try to finish episode three, and I’m sure I’ll watch stuff in between cheerleading and taking the campaign home. So, that will be my day and evening, and then these here notes will post as soon as the campaign closes. Or maybe I’ll post on time and then update if things change. That’s a possibility, too.
Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes, so I’ll have to leave and go do things – I may not do a breakfast because I’d really like to celebrate the close of the campaign with a nice meal. Or I could save that for Sunday. We shall see. Sunday I will definitely sleep in and have a complete ME day, save for continuing to write episodes. Then next week, I’m finally getting a desperately needed haircut, and then it’s just a countdown until the money arrives. Also, the three really late titles we’ve been waiting for arrived yesterday but too late to get – hopefully, they’ll get picked up today.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up no later than eleven, cheerlead the entire day and evening, perhaps put in a couple of last-minute perky perks, eat something light, write, cheerlead, and then bring this puppy home and hopefully to infinity and beyond with a big, beautiful parade led by seventy-six trombones. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – nothing. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy we got all the way up to 131% and hoping we now go up, up, and away in our beautiful balloon to infinity and beyond.
